I grew up going to Yosemite with my dad, where I have so many memories of splashing in the rivers. When I visited a few weeks ago with @maggiemiller__ I had an experience that led me to write this poem… The swirls of stellar jay And nibblings of grey squirrelsThe presence is always flowing Dad climbing rocks to find his hat in the rush Memories of scraping my knees in the brush From under the bridge, he has two hatsAnother man’s and hisWho’s cap was the other?Someone’s brother who’s head was chilled after a blow of the windSkipping upon rocks In the meeting of two riversI find a glove of a mothers And how grateful she was For she never thought she’d see that glove again.
