it's the last week to see Fill Your Boots, Eastern Edge's Members' Exhibition!

it's also the last week to see my painting,"look at all those chickens!"

AND it's the last week to bid on it in the silent auction!

but there's always time to tell me which bird is your favorite 🐦 🦆 🪿

I scraped my knee at the feminotica - hrt - slash need concert trying to get my friend a cigarette —

strangers pulled me up on my feet and George Street buzzed with bobbing heads,
sweaty bangs,
smudged eyeliner,
and faces I’ve only ever seen outside bars before,
on the apps,
and in pictures with friends of friends

we shuffled back in to find our place in the crowd,
eardrums ringing,
and the words coming out the ground through our throats —

one more song

if I make my way back to 2007 are you still there?

if I drink the right soda,
and taste the right food and watch the right movies,
will you be there on the sofa?

if I go down cedar hallways
and throw tantrums
and find that little girl in me,
will I hear you humming in the kitchen again?

maybe some day the wind will blow the right way, the wind will blow like it did back then
and bring me back to where you are there again

in the living room on the recliner,
hands dark from newspaper print,
the kettle just boiled,
the bus rolling down the street.
maybe you are there if I can remember it well enough

maybe you are there if I just hold on tighter

red sky at night, sailor's delight

each time I look out at the evening sky and that crimson hue looks back, I hear it in my head, that omen of good to come

may we all catch a glimpse of the scarlet sun even when the night hangs heavy above us

keep back to the fun and the slow of it.
get back to the taking it all in.

summer esplanades lead back to it. sweet stings of home ride the air as I picture myself barefoot in the grass and the clover, the sprinkler playing rhythms, the dogs barking beyond the fence, my nan stepping out onto the balcony — supper's ready, come on in
