On Sunday, I became an Ironman 🏊🏻‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

3.8 km swim | 180 km bike | 42.2 km run

The weeks leading up to race day felt like one challenge after another. Two bike crashes, injuries, uncertainty, self-doubt, and then waking up on race morning to find out the swim would be non-wetsuit. By the time the race started, I was just grateful to finally be there.

Despite everything leading up to it, race day couldn’t have gone much better.

I completed my very first non-wetsuit open water swim in 1:32:14, almost exactly as predicted. Then I had the strongest bike ride of my life, finishing the 180 km in 5:42:28 at an average of 31.5 km/h. Around 140 km, my hip suddenly pinched and I had to stop, stretch, and take an Aleve. Thankfully, it settled down and I kept going.

By T2, my entire body was swollen. My hands were so swollen I couldn’t make a fist, and my feet were so swollen and numb that every step hurt. Around 7 km into the run, I randomly decided to take my socks off. As soon as I put my shoes back on, I felt immediate relief. It ended up being one of the best decisions I made all day.

Then the rain came.

Running through a complete downpour somehow made the experience even better. The crowds never stopped cheering, the energy was unreal, and despite the pain and exhaustion, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Crossing the finish line in 11:44:06 felt surreal. My goal was sub-12 hours, so finishing nearly 16 minutes faster than I’d hoped was something I’ll never forget. I finished 25th/98 in my age group, 102nd/593 women, and 743rd/2,298 overall. I’m incredibly proud of those results.

I’m also proud to have been one of the 27% of athletes in this race who were women. I hope that number keeps growing.

Throughout the day, I kept thinking about how grateful I was.

To my friends, family, coworkers, residents, followers, and everyone who sent messages or cheered my name on course: thank you. I truly felt like I wasn’t doing this alone. Every message, comment, and bit of support helped carry me to that finish line.

Ten months ago, this was just a dream. On Sunday, it became a reality.

I did it.

I am an Ironman.❣️

The kilometres are the challenge.
The conversation is the point.

3 in 4 suicide deaths in Canada are men. Almost 10 men every day.

That’s a number that’s hard to read and an even harder one to ignore.

Miles for Men is my small way of doing something about a cause I care about. Not because I think 180 KM can solve men’s mental health, but because I think there’s value in creating more reasons to connect, check in and make it a little more normal to say when things aren’t okay.

So over these eight weeks, I hope the challenge goes beyond Strava and kilometres.

Check in on your friends. Ask the second question. Make space for an honest answer.

“I’m fine” doesn’t always mean I’m fine.

And sometimes starting the conversation is the most important part. 🖤

At the beginning of this year, I wrote down one thing I wanted to accomplish in every month of 2026. I’ve managed to check off a lot of them, but for November I wrote down something that has stayed in the back of my mind all year:

Fundraise for men’s mental health. 🖤

This is something I care deeply about. I’ve watched men in my own life struggle with their mental health, often quietly, and I’ve seen how the stigma around talking about it can make an already difficult experience even harder.

I knew I wanted to raise money, but I also wanted to create something that encouraged conversation, connection and community.

So naturally, I came back to running.

Running has given me so much. It’s made me feel strong and capable, introduced me to incredible people, created a safe and welcoming space, and become one of the ways I take care of my own mental health. With the darker months ahead, bringing running and mental health together just made sense.

So I created MILES FOR MEN.

From Oct 5–Nov 30, we’ll take on an 8-week outdoor running challenge. We start with 5 KM in Week 1 and add 5 KM each week until 40 KM in Week 8 — 180 KM total.

Hit your distance each week to advance. Make it through all eight weeks and you’ll qualify for the Mile Finale on Nov 30. 🏃

Entry is $10, with 70% of entry fees donated in support of Movember and 30% going to the finalist prize pool. No entry fees will be used for event expenses.

More than anything, I hope this gives us another reason to get outside, move together and check in on the people around us.

Ask the extra question:

“How are you actually doing?”

Registration is officially OPEN and all running abilities are welcome. 🌲

Registration closes Oct 4 at 11:59 PM PT. Link in bio to join.

Go the distance. Start the conversation. 🖤

There’s a part of becoming an Ironman that I don’t think we talk about enough.

The part after.

For so long, my life had a very clear direction. Train. Recover. Eat. Work. Repeat. Whenever life felt messy, I could pour myself into the next workout.

Then I crossed the finish line and everyone started asking me, “What’s next?”

The truth is, I don’t know.

I realized that a lot of the “therapy” I thought I was getting from endurance sport was also me getting really good at moving fast enough that I didn’t have to sit with everything else.

And lately, life has forced me to sit with it.

So this weekend, I went somewhere I’ve always felt most like myself… outside, in nature.

I drove five hours alone to the north end of Vancouver Island and ran the Cape Scott Trail. I wasn’t chasing a time, podium or distance. I just wanted to move through the forest, get muddy, breathe ocean air and spend some time with myself.

It didn’t occur to me that what I had done was a big accomplishment until people started telling me it was.

My first ultra distance on foot. Running and hiking alone through bear, cougar and wolf country. My first night sleeping aline in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe it was a big accomplishment. Just not for the reasons I’m used to measuring accomplishments.

There was no medal. No finish chute. No official time that mattered.

But somewhere out there, I started reconnecting with a version of myself that existed long before Ironman.

The girl who loves being outside. Who moves because it makes her feel alive. Who wants to explore, bring people together, get dirty, get a little scared and come home with a story.

I still don’t know what’s next.

Life is messy. I don’t think anyone actually has the answer. We’re all figuring it out as we go.

Maybe moving forward doesn’t always mean finding the next massive goal.

Maybe, for a while, it means feeding the parts of myself that have always been there. taken in Cape Scott, British Columbia by @kailey_webster

In two weeks, the past 10 months of hard work will be put to the test.

Ten months ago, I had no experience in swimming, cycling, or running. Just an idea that scared me enough to chase it.

Since then, there have been early mornings, long rides, missed plans, self-doubt, setbacks, and countless hours of training. Every session has led to this moment.

On August 2, I’ll stand on the start line of my first Ironman.

If everything goes to plan, I won’t just cross a finish line.

I’ll prove that I am made of Iron.
