MEET THE DJS: @kaili__os 💦Kaili is a NY-based multidisciplinary artist and creator whose work revolves around dreaming up new sonic and visual worlds. Having DJ'ed alongside artists such as DJ Lag, LSDXOXO, and Mobilegirl, she's also performed at venues such as Elsewhere, Knockdown Center, and Public Records. Her colorful, hybridized, and energetic approach to music is also featured on Bodywork, her residency on NTS. this year i had the immense honor to lead look development for the VR remastering of @bjork’s incredible album vulnicura. it’s known as her heartbreak album and it was an emotional and sometimes grotesque endeavor to transmute her artistry into something tangible and executable - from pulling threads out of a heartwound to sewing it back up all together.. here are snippets from “family” and “notget” which i developed and converted in unity’s universal rendering pipeline and recorded via avp. also a preview of our recreation of iceland which made much more sense after getting to visit reykjavik 🩵 s/o to the original architects of these pieces @andrewthomashuang @warrendupreeznickthorntonjones and their incredible teams, @james.t.merry for guidance, the other many contributors who made this possible and @pulsejetofficial for having me on board💜 this saturday i’ll be giving a lecture at NYU tandon as part of @framework_org to discuss the historical and mythological origins of VR, simulation and emotional truth via this album, and technical and aesthetic approaches that i took. the last slide is a preview from the talk and is an excerpt from “pygmalion’s spectacles” from 1935 which i will be referencing :) by @kaili__os
