the most magical evening at @pfcandleco with @___adorn, @scottjbroker and @eeshmu ⭐️ we read from american spirits, the disappointment, and loved one and asked them all of our burning questions. we got to meet so many new friends and bookworms :') such a special event!! thank you to all of our authors, attendees, and to PF for having us.

one year ago today, we hosted our first event as @grainofsalt.la — no real proof of concept, just an idea, some luck, and a lot of stress. 🎂 it’s inconceivable how much we’ve grown in just a year and it’s truly been a dream come true!!

it’s insane to think of @lex_ngu and i talking about it in our living room and seeing it come to life in ways we didn’t know possible. alexis is the person who truly puts so much love and intention behind every event, who is constantly coming up with new ideas, and who fosters this lil community — it’s my honor to make some of those ideas a reality. 💘

i’m so grateful to have been able to grow and learn throughout this process, from plating to sourcing. i’ve come to really appreciate seasonality and have loved getting to talk to the farmers who grow our food. i’m equally as grateful to the hundreds of people who have trusted me to feed them a meal that makes their heart and tummy full.

i’ve gotten to work with some of the most talented chefs/bakers i know (@bbiscooking + @alexsignon), work with brands i love, and have met so many people and friends along the way.

if you have had some food from me at an event, know that the everything is always made with the highest level of intention and love at every step!! thank you for your trust and i can’t wait for the food to get even better!

the most magical night in dtla with @stace.yyu celebrating the release of her debut novel, kitten 🐱

we read the first few chapters, chatted about the book and enjoyed khachapuri, roasted potatoes, pork + plums, peach + heirloom tomatoes, and brown butter + black sesame cupcakes. all directly mentioned and inspired by the story 🍽️

“you call it fiction, but it is more.” thank you for another incredible supper club! we celebrated national book lovers day by reading ben lerner’s “transcription,” from cover to cover. this was among our most loved selections thus far, a beautiful meditation on technology, family, grief, love and memory in the post-COVID modern world.

our menu featured caramelized onion dinner rolls with @tbgc_inc summer truffles, a peach and burrata salad, short rib beef bourguignon and pomme puree, and a chocolate mousse with stewed plums.

a moment for the dinner! after reading “the lover” at gathering #014. 💘 the menu was inspired both from direct passages from the book as well as from the main characters’ backgrounds—a perfect mix of viet + chinese + french fusion.

@ginzanishikawa shokupan shrimp toast w/ lemongrass chili aioli

cucumber, @weiserfamilyfarms piel de sapo melon, little gem salad w/ a chili shallot vinaigrette

char siu @porkandflowers secreto w/ burgundy plum hoisin

pate a choux w/ vietnamese coffee creme diplomat and @rooted.fare black sesame craquelin

always an honor to create these menus and to source the very best ingredients california has to offer! and also so happy to be able to share the flavors that i grew up with (and my love for costco cream puffs growing up).
