This is for every Filipino in Calgary who's typed "Filipino restaurant near me" and had to dig through pages just to find one. Who's craved that feeling of home but didn't know where to find it. Who moved here and had to start completely from zero.

The community was always here. We just needed a place to find each other.

I'm Nicole. I moved from Pampanga to Calgary at 17. And after years of building this city into my home, I built KAISA, a platform for the Filipino community in Calgary.

This is my attempt to help Filipinos discover and connect with the businesses, events, opportunities, and people that make our community thrive

A look back at a very special night. 🇵🇭

From the stories we were told growing up to the ones some of us now tell our own children, Forgotten Island brought something familiar and personal to the screen. Sharing that experience as a community made the night even more special.

Thank you for making this possible. For supporting Filipino-made films on the international stage, for bringing others along, and for giving our stories an audience here in Calgary.

There is so much talent in our country, and it deserves to be seen. That night, we got to show our Filipino filmmakers that even from across the world, we’re here, we’re proud, and we’re behind them.

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Para sa pelikulang Pilipino. Para sa atin. 💙

SALO-SALO | Third Place × KAISA

Join Third Place and KAISA for an intimate, Christmas-themed dinner at House 831. With just 37 spots, SALO-SALO is a chance to share a meal, meet new people, and spend an evening getting to know the community.

We’ll be sharing a boodle-style dinner, a Filipino way of eating where food is laid out on banana leaves and enjoyed together around the table. Come hungry and ready for good food and conversation.

Everyone is welcome, and we especially encourage our non-Filipino neighbours to join us and experience this Filipino tradition.

• Tickets: $35 per person, including dinner and drinks

In partnership with @sineinstitute, @calgarydirector and @kaisacalgary, we managed to make the Forgotten Island private screening happen this past weekend.

Thank you to everyone who watched and celebrated Filipino culture and folklore with us through this film! You could have watched it on your own time, yet you chose to share this moment with us. It was a great experience watching with all of you, and sharing with each other during our talkback portion.

It was a pleasure to highlight our community friends @safespace.artists @secondactyyc @filipinos_rising whose crafts and work contribute to the vibrancy of our culture and continue to strengthen our communities.

Thank you to our volunteers @lplsc @kayrongcal @angeelusv @arsm_iii @hev.gabbie @grnt_hrld @e.ilax @i.mitchu_ who dedicated their time and energy in making this event smoother, and our photographer/videographer @popdodpop @chrisp.hilario for the amazing contents.
