October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month💜
#doitforserin #dvam2025 #domesticviolence #domesticviolenceawareness ally

As most of you know, coming up on 2 years ago my best friend lost her sweet life 2 days before her 18th birthday at the hands of someone undeserving of ever knowing her soul. Navigating this grief, anger, & guilt has been one of the hardest challenges I have ever faced, I can’t even imagine how she truly felt while making sure everyone around her wasn’t worried.

Statistics show that Domestic Violence as a whole is drastically underreported, under justified, & devastating no matter the stages.

It is one of the most underreported crimes, only about 40% of victims ever report their abuse. Even when domestic violence escalates to murder, only 34% of partner related murders lead to arrests, with conviction rates being even lower.

JUSTICE IS RARELY SERVED.

Victims are left unprotected, while abusers face minimal accountability, often times receiving praise for how “good & kind” of a person they are.

Speak up for the people you love. Speak life & love into them so they can hopefully find the strength & support to leave or fight for their justice. Fight for them. The change starts with us. I encourage each of you to do at least 1 thing this month to support DV Awareness. Whether that’s a share, a walk, wearing a purple ribbon, a donation to an organization, participating in an event, helping someone you know, lighting your home with purple, or simply sending a prayer of strength to the ones suffering. SHOW UP for your people.

If you or anyone you know are suffering from Domestic Violence, REPORT IT.

There are no real words to describe the love that I have for Serenity, for the bond that we shared, the way her friendship changed my life. No words for the anger, loss, guilt, & despair I feel now that she is gone, & in the manner that she was taken a year ago. She deserved so much more out of this world, she deserved more adventures & Diet Coke. She persevered so much while she was on this Earth & I am so proud of the person that she was.

Serenity Rayne came into my life & quickly became a huge part of it & my heart. She showed me a type of love i’d never gotten the privilege to encounter before. Serenity walked into a room & no matter what her mood was, she made you giggle. She gave the best hugs, even if I wasn’t in a huggy mood. She supported & loved me in everything & held my hand the whole way. We always joked about how funny it was that we were best friends with such a big age gap, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. She showed me what it was like to be silly again. In a way, she was capable of bringing you back to the shore when you felt like you were drowning. The countless sleepovers & adventures that I shared with her & Trinity I will never be able to express how much they saved my life on multiple occasions.

I miss finding new pictures in my phone or iPad that she’s left for me, I miss going somewhere with her & having to wait 5 minutes before we went in for her to brush her hair, I miss her coming home to her chilling in my house, I imagine how it would be if she were still here, & try not to be selfish. I know she is okay & she no longer has to deal with any kind of pain & that is enough to give me some peace. She was the most selfless, kind, silly, hard working, & forgiving girl & I am forever thankful to have crossed paths with her. Serenity re defined what friendship looked like for me, what a sisterhood was like. My girl was fiercely loving & unapologetically herself. The first day I met her I said how beautiful she was, I didn’t even fully understand the depth of that then. She is the brightest & most genuine soul, it was an honor to share the time I did with her. I hope I’m reunited one day, & that I am able to make her proud💜💜 by @kaitikash
