After many years of delay, I finally got around to binding “Blood of the Lamb”!

Not all projects go to plan and this was certainly one of them; I started back it 2023 by illustrating and screen printing a large, 2-layer series of a wolf run cycle. The goal was to bind an animated flipbook from the prints, including a front and back cover, using a Japanese stab stitch. When it came time to bind, the book was wayyyyyy too thick to get my needle all the way through, even with pre-made punches. I ended up doing a very weird hold-it-together™ stitch (yep, that’s the official name). This, of course, made the book pretty wobbly and created an unintentional deckle edge, making it nearly impossible to smoothly flip through the book and view the “animated” wolf as I intended. I’m sad it wasn’t a successful book but before I began binding, I scanned each frame of the animation and was able to create a digital copy of what the book was supposed to read as! It was still a great learning experience and a fun challenge, onwards!!! by @kaitwaldman

As many of you know, the University of the Arts, my alma mater, announced that it will permanently close on June 7th. I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have graduated just two weeks before this news. Though I am no longer a student, this is not a fight that will soon be over for me and countless friends, professors, staff members, and communities. We are approaching two weeks after the university emailed us about the closure after everyone, faculty included, had found out beforehand via a Philly Inquirer article. The virtual Town Hall (limited to 500 people and attendance must be approved by the host) that was previously scheduled by the school was canceled just ten minutes before it was supposed to start. A new meeting has been scheduled for Friday, June 14th, from 10-11:30am EST. Please attend if you can, the link to sign up is on my story and will be in my highlights until the 14th.

Be loud, do not stop fighting for what you deserve. We will prevail.
