Myth: “Just rest it.” Rest can calm things down, but getting back to what you love usually takes a plan.

What’s the worst injury advice you were ever given?

Radial shockwave is the loud one. A compressed-air projectile strikes the applicator, so it makes a sharp, rapid clicking or snapping sound, a bit like a nail gun or a woodpecker. It’s very recognizable on camera.

Focused shockwave, which your site lists, is usually much quieter. The pulse is made electromagnetically or piezoelectrically inside the handpiece, so you mostly hear a soft, steady tick or tap with each pulse rather than a loud crack. Some units also hum or click faintly as they charge between pulses. taken in Bethesda, Maryland by @kaizenchiro

Sore or injured? These are the four questions we ask first. It’s how we think, not a diagnosis, so if your answers worry you, get it looked at.

Save this for the next time something hurts.

Better, not perfect. Kaizen (改善) means continuous improvement: small, steady gains, visit after visit. It’s the name on our door and the way we work.

Follow for one small improvement a week.

The needle gets the muscle to let go. The light tells it what to do next.

Dry needling is one of my favorite tools in the room — because when it’s placed well, the response is fast. A taut band releases, the local twitch fires, blood flow returns to tissue that’s been shut down for weeks. Clients often feel the change before they get off the table.

But fast relief and lasting relief are two different things. Releasing a muscle creates a window. What happens inside that window determines whether the pattern actually changes or just resets in three days.

That’s why I run my manual therapy under the ÉLEVÉ light panel — red, deep red, blue and near-infrared, all at once, while I work.

Why all four wavelengths together:

🔴 Red (~630–660nm) — absorbed superficially. Skin, superficial fascia, local microcirculation.

🔴 Deep red (~660–680nm) — reaches a little further. Supports blood flow and collagen activity in the tissue I’m treating.

🔵 Blue (~415–465nm) — stays at the surface. Supports a clean treatment field, which matters any time I’m breaking skin.

⚪ Near-infrared (~810–850nm) — the deep worker. It penetrates past skin into muscle, tendon and joint — exactly where the needle is.

The mechanism is elegant: these wavelengths are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria. More efficient energy production means the cell has the ATP available to do the repair work I just asked it to do. I’m not adding anything to the body. I’m giving it better conditions to respond.

Stacked on dry needling, that combination supports a calmer post-treatment response, less next-day soreness, and a shorter runway from release to reload.

This is what infrastructure looks like when it’s built with intention. ÉLEVÉ isn’t a spa amenity — it’s clinical environment design, and it changes what my hands can accomplish in a 45-minute session.

Build the room around the outcome.

Educational content, not medical advice. Dry needling and photobiomodulation are clinical decisions made per patient, per presentation.
