Grips & Reps Sundays 🥋

So much respect for the members that show up every week ready to do the hard work and improve their jiujitsu under pressure.
Grateful that they trust me to put them through their paces and keep coming back for more despite nicknaming it the Death Class 😂

Want to level up too? Join every Sunday at 12 pm.

Well done to @charliecaldersmma on a phenomenal 31 second submission in his first match of the IBJJF Nogi Euros today 🔥👏

Charlie came out flying with a high risk, high reward strategy that worked beautifully in his first match but cost a loss in his second match to the eventual bracket winner.

Congratulations on gaining valuable XP and putting on a show on one of the biggest stages in Europe. Charlie just stepped into to the Adult division and he is only just getting started 🔥 great things to come! by @kaizenlancaster

🟦🟦⬛️🟦 Huge congratulations to Astor on this promotion to bluebelt 👏👏

Astor is an athletic grappler known for his takedowns and throws which he has had great success with in competition as well as in training.
He is also an integral part of the @lu_brazilianjiujitsu team and a great jiujitsu player to have in the gym!

We are excited to see him continue his development at the next belt stage. Congratulations and well deserved @astor_006 👏 by @kaizenlancaster

This weekend, our own @bobbiecaldersmma added a second IBJJF medal to his yellow belt run at the junior European championships! Only loosing to the eventual group winner Bobbie showed his usual game of strong wrestling and top pressure to perform admirably in Lisbon, continuing his run as one of the most prolific athletes of the gym despite his young age!

A super hard worker never one to shy away from the graft, we’re so proud of you Bobbie and can’t wait to see what you do next!

🟪🟪⬛️🟪 We are super happy to promote Charlie to a very well deserved purple belt tonight 👏👏

Charlie is a technical and intelligent grappler who saw lots of success with his deadly footlock game early on in his journey but then expanded his jiujitsu from there, entering purple with a well rounded arsenal of jiujitsu.

He has had some excellent competition performances and is also super helpful with giving advice and teaching others techniques. He is excellent at tailoring his rolls to his training partners, making him a great round for everyone.

Big congratulations Charlie and we can't wait to see the campaign continue at purple 💜

On Saturday evening @williamsummersmma and @matthew_shaw08 both made the trip to Blackpool to fight in MMA and Kickboxing respectively, both making their debuts in these arenas.

First up Will showed excellent composure and control against a skilled grappler, landing some damage on the feet and keeping his arms and legs safe during a few tense moments on the ground, utilising his grappling skills to deny his opponent opportunities and continue landing ground and pound. Despite everything that happened he was able to drop for his own leglock when the opportunity came about, leaving with a submission win in the second!

Matthew fought a gruelling 3 round war under amateur K1 rules, showing his extremely evasively style and repeatedly forcing his opponent to miss to set up the counter. Unfortunately the judges decision didn’t go his way, but he absolutely showed how game he is and the level he is at, even against a bigger and longer reached opponent!

Great job boys, and we’ll be back in the gym to improve and continue this week!

Big thanks to @utcblackpool for organising the event! by @kaizenlancaster

🟦🟦⬛️🟦 Huge congratulations to Deniz on his well deserved bluebelt promotion 👏👏

Deniz is a very active and valuable member of both @lu_brazilianjiujitsu and Kaizen and he is a great training partner for everyone.
He has also been highly succesful on the competition scene, smashing multiple local comps with excellent results.

He is more than ready for the next level and we cannot wait to see what he'll do at bluebelt and with the LUBJJ society this year!

Congratulations @deniz.clrk 🥋👏 by @kaizenlancaster

🟦🟦⬛️🟦 Two new bluebelts in the house 👏👏

Huge congratulations to Dave and Lucy on their well deserved promotions!
They both had some smashing performances at their last comp and both work hard on the mats every week. Not just as a couple but as a whole family with their sons.
Dave and Lucy are not only fierce rolls, they are also wonderful community members at our gym, always supporting everyone and spreading the warm Calderbank atmosphere around them.

We can't wait to see them keep growing at bluebelt 💙 Congratulations Dave, congratulations Lucy! by @kaizenlancaster
