Perhaps my best shot this year! Definitely the most surprising.

I had the chance to watch the partial solar eclipse in Berlin last August from a friend’s rooftop terrace. With a few neutral-density filters in front of the lens, I surprisingly managed to capture this shot, in which the sun—partially obscured by the moon—appears to touch the Berlin TV Tower.

…auf Sylt.

Der letzte Abend des Urlaubs. Es hatte den ganzen Tag geregnet. Ich war eigentlich nur kurz beim Strandrestaurant am Campingplatz um Pizza für den Abend abzuholen. Die Kamera hatte ich dabei, weil nach dem Regen der Himmel plötzlich aufriss und das Licht vielversprechend aussah. Bis zum Abholen der Bestellung hatte ich noch zehn Minuten. Also Kamera raus und ab in die Dünen…

Was soll ich sagen: das Abendlicht war bombastisch!! Ich wäre gerne den ganzen Abend geblieben. Es waren Surfer in den Wellen, zwei kamen gerade mit ihren Surfboards die Treppe aus den Dünen herunter. Es sind solche Momente, die das Fotografieren zu meiner Leidenschaft gemacht haben!

Watching the sunset at one of the most beautiful coast lines of of South Africa. What a beautiful moment.

It was the first time wie put our little one in a baby carrier. He was so happy up there! At that time he was not able to sit upright for a longer time. So we tested it for just a short walk to the beach. Our friendly bnb hosts gave us their carrier to try it out. Back in Germany we finally bought our own one for all our upcoming hikes with our little one. taken in Hermanus, Western Cape by @kaizzrrr

A colony of African Penguins at Betty‘s Bay. After we spotted Penguins already at the famous Boulders Beach close to Cape Town we were a bit unsatisfied with our pictures. Additionally, the colony of African Penguins at Boulders Beach has shrunk considerably in recent years due to overfishing. The animals don’t find enough food. Now parts of the Beach are used as a regular swimming area for people. The protected area is just a small part oft the beach which wie didn‘t expect.

Luckily our journey brought is to Betty‘s Bay as well. Here we had a second chance to spot these cute Little African Penguins. On some of the pictures you can also see some Cormorants which share the rocks with the Penguins.

A slow day at Cape Point. The weather was cloudy, the colours where deep saturated though. This place felt rough and pristine.

I always thought, that the Cape of Good Hope is the southernmost point of Africa, but it turned out that I was wrong. Although the café at Cape Point calls itself „Café between two oceans“ the real southernmost point of Africa is Cape Agulhas, which lies around 100 kilometres east. taken in Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope by @kaizzrrr

I have long dreamed of traveling to Cape Town and standing on Table Mountain. This moment felt special!

We decided to go there in the late afternoon, when the crowds have left already. And we were rewarded with stunning views over cape town and the ocean and very good light, as the sun was about to set. And man...we have never witnessed clouds moving so fast around a peak like up here!

Travel to the Balkans has a long tradition in our family. Already as a baby my first summer vacation was in Yugoslavia. In the 90ies the balkan wars were dominating the daily news. I never understood why the war happened back then. The mention of the city of Sarajevo always fascinated and shocked me as a boy. Only years later did I grasp the scale of the wars. For some time now, I've wanted to visit Sarajevo. Wanted to learn more about the land of Bosnia & Herzegowina.

During our road trip through Romania, Serbia and Bosnia&Herzeg. in summer 2024 we visited Sarajevo for four days. The city has long been a melting pot of cultures. And still you can see so many traces of the war, like destroyed buildings, walls with bullet holes. We also visited the old illegal supply tunnel below the airport. It was responsible for ensuring that the city survived the encirclement from 1992-96 by enemy Serbian troops. And we walked town the old bob tracks of the Olympic Winter Games from 1986 which is a remain of the Golden Years of this vibrant city.

Oldie but Goldie: found this strip of pictures from our Madeira Island trip in November 2021 on my hard drive.

We did the famous trail from Pico do Aireiro to Pico Ruivo, the two highest peaks of the island. The trail is fully paved but very demanding because the biggest part of it consists of stairs - sometimes even ladders and dark tunnels. The landscape and views are breathtaking! You watch over steep and narrow canyons, rocks, all covered with fog, which looks simply epic. Highly recommended! 👌

Swipe to see a collection of wildlife shots me and @rebecca.krizak did in the past years. Our travels have repeatedly taken us to places where there was spectacular wildlife to discover. These encounters with nature have shown us how magnificent and how fragile it is at the same time.

When you press the shutter while standing in front of an elephant, or while a humpback whale weighing tons rises out of the water in front of the ship, you feel nothing but pure joy.

And eventually there's another journey laying in front of us where we can pack the tele lens again....so excited already...
