Nest 7 still remains on the water at stirk park. It is one of the 4 remaining nests that can still be viewed. This was definitely one of the most difficult nests to install, not just by its location but also it’s size. Out of all the nests in the series this one is very personal to me.
It’s by far the strongest nest and took me the longest to construct. For me it’s important that art imitates life. The art should hold personal value to the artist.
The music attached to nest7 is the fold, again a very personal piece of music to me. Without the music this body of work would be nothing but a pile of sticks. The music was always the message and the nests a means of delivering it.
Techno is everything you haven’t imagined yet.🎶🎶🎶🎶 by @kalamundanests

The nests are not that important to me, but more the message each one carried.
If you build a Trojan Horse elaborate enough people will accept it with open arms. The nests carried the music, that was their purpose. Music is the purest art form on the planet, nothing comes close. by @kalamundanests

The white branches that made up #nest8 were set on fire last night. This was always going to end like this. From the moment I created this nest it was always going to burn. As an artist it’s important to understand that the process of creating the artwork, far outweighs the artwork itself. by @kalamundanests

Without it we have nothing.

In the words of Ludovico Einaudi
“You don’t have to compose a masterpiece every time, but I think the challenge of art is always searching for something different, searching for a new perspective, a new vision.

Nest8 was the last nest in this body of work. The last nest was always going to end up in this location. It was by far the most difficult nest to install. It came with plenty of controversy.
One resident went as far to say “It’s so disappointing because these nests had a special magic and there was something very gentle and generous about them. This one is just intensely invasive, and it will take a lot of money to get the shed restored.
“They’ve spoiled their own creativity.”
I want this person to know that out of all the comments and feedback I received on Instagram about the nests this is by far my favourite.

Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. by @kalamundanests
