The farmhouse needed fresh paintwork. We chose a lovely, saturated shade of green from @sherwinwilliams called “Vintage Vogue”. Now forest trees and farmhouse blend together… taken in Princeton, Wisconsin by @kalensplace

Last summer, John and I purchased just over 7 acres of his parent’s lovely farm property in Princeton, Wisconsin including the farmhouse and all of the barns.
We’ve spent just over the past year tidying it up and renovating the farmhouse.
Follow along as I share bits & pieces of the wonderful transformation…🌾

Old can feel like new. Buy the vintage piece you love! Dig out the antique pieces you tucked away and give them new life! Find a new spot for it. Need help with this? Give me a shout!

Lighting…in the process of design, I consider it the “jewelry”. One simple, unique element can be a game changer to the overall vibe of the space.

Design tip for the day…mindful, unique changes to areas of your home can make a big impact.
You don’t need to do a full renovation if it’s not what your spaces require. You can swap out doors for more light, paint the walls fresh colors, add texture with materials, incorporate new lighting and fans, recreate small spaces into something new. Lots of magic can happen in your home with creative planning and insight!

In the four years that I’ve been designing for these amazing clients, we’ve tackled 3 full bathroom renovations, a primary bedroom “refresh” and a family/dining room “glow up”!

I feel so much gratitude having had the opportunity to work through my client’s home-room by room-to create unique spaces that they truly love!

Next up: Guest bedroom/Office space!

At this time last year, this lovely home was under a complete renovation!
What began as a “Let’s add more space to the family room by bumping out into the back patio area” turned into a much larger-scale project…
Kitchen, 5 bathrooms, laundry room, added an upstairs bedroom, floral studio, dining room bar area, new floors, new front door…
Look at her now!
I keep thinking how happy I am that they were able to come home from their summer travels this year to THIS and not an empty shell waiting for the walls (and the rest of the house!) to come back together!

There is a renaissance happening in the design world where we are once again happily embracing the charming details of historical homes (not tearing them out), using the antiques we inherited from our family members or found shopping in a local vintage store, layering in pieces of vintage artwork & decor… creating spaces with color and character.
This shift is a “nod” to recognizing that the past produced pieces with intention, charm and understated beauty. Goods were well-made with sustainable materials and simply timeless.
