It’s has taken me quite the time to come up with the words for what I’ve been feeling over these last few weeks, especially this last one.

First, I thank the most high and acknowledge my all my ancestors for continuing to keep and bless myself and my family. Shoutout to my village, My momma, @simplytahirah @glitznglammm @ms_brown_eyez_ @bebe_ego23 I love y’all more than words can express.

I would have never though that after all this time I would be given a proper platform to share the backstory of the world greatest meme. (Sorry MJ 😂) @itsjasontoyou we are absolutely indebted to you and your forethought to document yet another era for our people.

@the_a_prentice thank you for thinking of me and including me in this space. @kozza @naimagram @foxxfiles @iamrichaun @mscashawn it was an honor and a privilege to laugh and carry on with y’all. I’m fully expecting a reunion soon ! 🥂

It is truly an unexplainable feeling to be etched in the history of our people.

This is so surreal. Absolutely honored to be a small part of this piece of magic. Black Twitter has always been a community - sometimes ephemeral - and very much under attack with the purchase of the site...but the maven @itsJasontoyou helped document its impact with his @WIRED article way back in 2021. 3 years later, almost to the exact day, the “Black Twitter: A People’s History” docu-series is here. Directed by Sir Prentice Penny himself, with a stellar team of creatives. And Hulu & @OnyxCollective have been going IN on the promo front. Shouts to my INCREDIBLE scene partners - @naimagram (love you for real) @foxxfiles @kalin_elisa @iamRichaun @MsCaShawn: Y’all I told the editors we gotta to go through the cutting room floor footage; we need some bonus clips because we were cutting UP! I lied…

Somewhere along this journey I lied to my myself.

I told myself I wasn’t good enough. Smart enough. Pretty enough. I even convinced myself that I didn’t care that I wasn’t all those things. Tf Kinda shit is that?!

All I know is I’m tired of feeling stuck and scared of. imaginary. bullshit. damn!

I gotta get over this…

My birthday season is always a time of reflection, evaluation, and eliminations. This past year gave me a peak into what I can do when I quiet the fear and fully execute the genius in my mind.

I’ve pushed myself in so many ways this past year and I’m happy with how far I’ve come but not quite satisfied. As the saying goes, there’s money on the table and I’m in the spirit of collecting all that is owed to me.

I look forward to pissing y’all off from this point on with all that God got planned for my tribe and I. Thank you to those who genuinely support me in all my endeavors. I love y’all tremendously.

Folks ask me all the time what made me decide to cut my hair off. The simple answer is “ I needed a change” The honest answer is I was DESPERATE for a change…

I found myself looking at my reflection and not liking what I saw. I wouldn’t step foot out the house without makeup on and babyyyy if my hair didn’t do exactly what I needed it to do, the day was truly ruined.

I was losing myself day by day. Finally I cracked, I could no longer find the beauty in my own skin. I hated my reflection completely. In that very low place is where I knew I had to do something to snap myself back. I shaved my back, then added my sides, then the ✨final buzz✨. I’ll never forget the moment I saw myself. It was the first time I trulllyy saw me.

There she was. The prettiest version of Kalin, one I couldn’t have even imagined! A face that I now prefer without makeup. It was a blessing to find my way back to appreciating at such a young age and I’m forever thankful for the freedom I experience from being able to chop my shit at the slightest inconvenience 😂
