Before I truly knew Christ, I had a lot of opinions about religion, about Christians, and about God. It was only after I decided to surrender all of my questions, doubts, and opinions—and chose to follow Jesus—that my eyes were opened to truth. And man is it freeing! Soooo here’s a few things from my own journey that shifted when I started seeking God and began to unravel some of these misconceptions I held.

God knows us fully. He knows our thoughts before we even speak them out loud. He knows everything we have done and will do in the future. He searches our hearts. Every messy bit, every uncomfortable moment, every failure, every doubt (even about Him) He knows. Yet, His love for us will NEVER change. There’s nothing we can do to earn or lose His love. So being perfect was never the expectation. God desires our yes to following Him, He wants us to be honest and obedient every step of the way, to walk and talk with Him. To trust and know Him. He is secure and gracious and kind and WANTS us to succeed. Even in our worst moments, He is with us. So, being perfect? NO. Being honest and obedient. yes.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

I used to tense up or roll my eyes when someone even mentioned God. I would say things like—how can such a loving God allow for such a cruel world? Christianity is just a way to control people. Christians are just brainwashed—and so on. At one point I denied that God was even real. I was coming from a place of fear, offense, and honestly just misunderstanding who God was and His nature. When you consider religion without relationship, there is no reward. It would be miserable and impossible to attain righteousness by yourself; which is where so many people miss what is ACTUALLY offered through Christ. The truth I know now is that following God brings true freedom and is based on our relationship with Jesus. That is the best part, that it doesn’t depend on us, and has everything to do with wh by @kalli.rice

Spending the month in South Africa has truly been the greatest gift. I left wanting more of God. Desiring to know Him more and to live in the real thing. Too easily we can get distracted or forget what truly matters in this life—eternity and souls.

But the Lord has graciously opened my eyes to the weight of the Gospel and our role in sharing it with others. I’ve learned what it looks like to seek Him more deeply, to surrender comfort and doubts, and to walk in His freedom. His love has the power to heal and change hearts. We must take on his mission to share that love with other people so they too may know Christ.

The people of South Africa have a beautiful faith that has inspired and challenged me, and for that I’m so grateful. So grateful for every conversation, every testimony, and every new friend I made!! Thank you for teaching me what it looks like to love so freely. by @kalli.rice

All I can say is, what a GOOD God we serve.

I came here to share the good news, and every day my faith is encouraged more and more. Through every conversation and every testimony, I am reminded of the Lord’s faithfulness.

Our team has met some of the most joyful and bright people, whose faith ministers to us just as much as we hope to minister to them.

I am so blessed and excited to continue this journey in this beautiful place!! I can’t wait to see what God does.
