Reminiscing on @exposureskate Exposure X 2021 and feeling both happy that I worked hard to put together this video part (with so much help from @jtthorn !!) and also sad that I won’t be able to compete in person this weekend. I injured my knee a couple weeks ago and haven’t been able to skate. It will likely be a few more weeks until I’m back on my skateboard. Though I wish my knee would heal more quickly, these past weeks of being unable to skate have given me much needed perspective on what skateboarding is to me. It’s a lot of things—a social outlet, a means for moving my body, a mental space, a practice of resilience. Above all, it is a sort of mediation. The repetitive movements that happen while skateboarding create a rhythm. I’ve felt that rhythm both externally and internally, and it has been a source of great joy in my life. So I guess I’m just saying skateboarding is beautiful and I’m grateful to be a part of it—and grateful that it’s also a part of me. taken in Utah by @kallielowery
