I JOURNEYED BACK TO MYSELF — AND THERE, I FOUND THE PLANTS

I spent two weeks back home in Hawaiʻi — one week on Oʻahu with my dad, and one week on Maui with my mom. The islands always call me back… to reflect, to reconnect, to remember who I am.

I didn’t plan to take a break from social media, but I found myself feeling quiet — deep in thought, surrounded by childhood memories, while also thinking about the future and what’s to come. This trip became an unexpected pause — an introspective time of deep reflection.

Lately, time has felt strange. It seems to stand still, then speed up without warning. I’ve been watching a lifetime of memories pass by… remembering versions of myself. Who I was. Who I am now. It all feels like a collision — of moments, memories, and emotions.

I did a lot of forgiving on this trip — forgiving past versions of myself, and letting go of old narratives that no longer tell my story.

Mastering self-awareness and facing our darkest insecurities — that’s where true transformation begins. When we’re brave enough to face our fears, we’re met with truth. And in that truth… we find liberation.

I brought my 35mm camera and four rolls of film with me to Hawaiʻi. When I got my scans back, I realized almost every photo was of plants. The flowers and trees seemed to call to me.

Now, looking through the images, they feel grounding, comforting, and stabilizing. Like the earth was gently reminding me: “You’re held. You’re here.”

I found clarity in the stillness and a sense of strength in feeling rooted again.

Photography always brings me home, and for that — I’m endlessly grateful.

Have you ever traveled somewhere and immediately felt at home?

From the moment we stepped off the train from London, it felt like kismet. There was something strangely familiar about Paris. Maybe it’s from the countless movies I’ve watched over the years… or maybe it’s been an unrequited love story quietly living inside me my whole life — imagining and visualizing myself here.

Either way, it felt like I was stepping into a small piece of my destiny.

Even now, sitting here in the busy Paris airport reflecting on the trip while waiting to board my flight home, I feel an incredible sense of peace. I’m so grateful I finally made it here. It only took me 41 years.

I am beyond grateful to @sonyadriver and her team. To find myself traveling the world again with @ecobysonya truly blows my mind. I don’t know if I can fully put into words the depth of gratitude I feel. Morocco last summer was extraordinary, and now Paris… it feels like I’m living inside a dream I once quietly wished for.

The way I see life now — the way I experience it — is a testament to never giving up, even when faced with adversity.

Surrounding yourself with people who genuinely believe in you is everything. As Sonya always says, “Ditch the haters.” And honestly, it couldn’t be more true. She feels like a soul sister to me — as does her beautiful daughter @charlotteavva

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be this: find the thing that sparks something inside of you — that feeling of hope, curiosity, and joy.

For me, that was always photography.

Once you find that spark, pour your heart into it. Learn everything you can. Dive deep into its layers and practice it every single day.

Life is an incredible journey, full of chapters, reinvention, and unexpected moments of magic. But through it all, remember this:

You are the main character of your life. Never give up. by @kamokila

Sonya and her team have been working on this product for 5 years and went through five different scientists until they found the one they loved. She was kind enough to send me the product early, and I quickly added Glory Cream into my nightly skincare routine. I’m one of those people who loves waking up and checking my skin in the morning — like I’m about to see the most amazing transformation from my skincare the night before. The Serum of Plenty has always done that for me, giving me incredible results and making me completely hooked. But with my skin leaning drier these days, I knew I needed a nourishing cream in my routine.

After just one use of Glory Cream, my skin looked noticeably more dewy, hydrated, and fresh. Now, six weeks in, I’m truly obsessed with the results—my complexion feels smoother, plumper, and more radiant. This rich, luxurious formula is powered by its first ingredient, organic apricot oil, and infused with 1% Bakuchiol—a natural alternative to retinol—that softens fine lines, deeply moisturizes, and strengthens the skin barrier.

I’ve also experimented with using Glory Cream during the day and under my makeup — and it’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s especially perfect in the winter months when my skin needs a little extra love. I really appreciate how versatile this product is.

Glory Cream is rated 100% excellent and clean by Yuka, which always excites me because it gives me so much peace of mind knowing I’m using products that are safe, clean, and good for my skin!

With its luxurious texture, skin-loving ingredients, and clean rating, Glory Cream is one of those rare products that checks every box. Whether you’re using it nightly as a treatment or layering it under makeup for extra hydration, it’s a beautiful addition to any skincare ritual.

Life has been shifting—expanding, contracting, unfolding. So many wonderful things have come my way lately: creative projects, new opportunities, inspiring people, and ideas. I’m learning to embrace it all while still carving out moments of ease and sacred space.

August was a full month. I battled a stubborn cold that lingered far too long, and I’m so grateful to finally feel like myself again. We also made a big move into a rental as we prepare to sell our house—holding big prayers for upgrades, alignment, and the courage to keep leaping in faith.

Life moves quick. You blink and it changes again. But one thing’s for sure—you can’t win if you don’t play. 🌀
