ELMINA CASTLE 🏯

This site is more than just a historical site—it's a reminder of the painful legacy of slavery.

The castle was by the Portuguese in 1482 and became one of the largest hubs for the transatlantic slave trade.

The stories are chilling: countless Africans were held captive before being shipped off into slavery and those who resisted were shackled with a heavy metal ball around their legs to sleep on cold concrete floors. Anyone who rebelled was thrown into a dungeon never to be seen again.

Elmina is a place where freedom was stolen, and resistance meant certain death. This visit is a powerful reminder of the resilience of those who endured these atrocities, and the importance of remembering their stories.

MY WISH by NWANI CHIKAMSO ‎

I dream of a dream of times unknown ,
I dream of a nation with greatness personified,
A dream of a country flowing with milk and honey,
A country of great renown shrouded in marvellous splendour,

A government of the people, by the people and for the people,
A country free of terrorism and insurrections,
A country cleansed and purged of corruption and poverty,
A country where the young will grow in wisdom and ability to lead our nation into the lands of great riches and prosperity,
A country where the old are not seen as outdated or liabilities, but as pillars, idols and models for the up and coming to look up to,
Am economy that booms and flourishes and grows like the great Iroko in the forests not intimidated by the Dollars of the jungle,

Oh! I dream of a country that is finally loved and appreciated by its people,

But as I began telling people of this dream, the old pepper seller by the roadside looked to me and said:
"Who will grant your wish..... but who will grant your wish?"
