I am so incredibly grateful for you all. Special thanks to JD’s virgo moon for keeping us on track on shoot and runway day (my virgo sun could never)

Made of deadstock cotton twill, this look was inspired by the melancholy of adolescence and so much of the culture & media I was consuming as a teenager in the 2010s.

Presentation of the first @kana_suwa collection

Thank you to my dad who came and built my set last minute and my love @dominicfaulring for gathering the plants (again, last minute, because everything was last minute and after 2 years of chaos my plants at home are either dead or dying and deeply unpresentable), and the lovely friends and community that donated real preserved moss and helped us set up and take down.

For a collection inspired by my own childhood nostalgia it felt incredibly special that the presentation would be such a family affair; with my dad constructing the set, much of the decor passed down from my grandmother (his mother), the print in the window created from the Chinese trumpet vine in my maternal grandparents’ front yard, and the tags in all of my garments embroidered by my mother from silk thread she found in our old house in Japan, from silkworms cultivated by my great grandmother, the mother of my grandfather whose passing I grieved while creating this collection. by @kanajohnson

✨ Look 03 - The Flapper Dress

The dropped waist, the shimmer, the sense of perpetual motion. The 1920s Flapper found its rebellion in looseness — and this Lucknow Chikankari sari, with its hand embroidery and mukaish metalwork on sheer georgette silk, answers that call entirely.

• While prior modeling experience is preferred, it is not required!
