As part of our Sea Shells, She Tells project we had workshops with the local kids of Esposende in spring (yes, we are slow with posting). We collected their stories about water, and we showed them how to create circuits using things from the sea and use them to create interaction with @touchdesigner and @playtronica .
It was a very fun experience. Also very loud. Hats down for teachers like Rui Santos for handling so many kids everyday!
The kids had pretty cool stories and drawings by the way, you can check them on our website in our Living Archive.

Hey Berlin! 🪟

Next Saturday (18.04) at 17h, we're opening our doors for a special community event with amazing artists from Mexico!

**« J'ai trouvé des fenêtres dans les murs »**, an exhibition and live animation performance by @celestialbrizuela, with Carlos Domville + analog visuals by Alejandro Marra.

The work dives into colonial archives to pull out hidden stories of migration, resistance, and survival, told through sculpture, animation, and poetry. Sugar, indigo, and the bodies that built empires we still carry with us. Heavy roots and delicate hands.

As part of our Residency together with @ritaeperjesi at @associacaorioneiva through the @startseu Aqua Motion residency, we are holding our first public workshop next weekend, on Saturday, 7th March at the Rio Neiva Space in Esposende, Portugal.

If you have been curious about creative technology, all things water, join us next weekend!

We'll walk, listen, collect memories, and explore what it means to carry the ocean inside us.

We'll get a brief intro to @touchdesigner and @playtronica touch sensors, and see how the things we collect can hold a digital memory.

No experience needed. Bring warm clothes, comfy shoes, and curiosity. If you have a laptop, please bring it along with TouchDesigner installed.

O que trazer: Roupa quente e calçado à prova de água para a caminhada. Se tiveres um computador portátil, também o podes trazer, desejavalmente com o TouchDesigner instalado.

No âmbito da residência artística S+T+ARTS AQUA MOTION, as artistas do projeto Sea Shells, She Tells convidam para uma oficina intensiva de um dia na Rio Neiva — um encontro entre escuta profunda, memória, escrita criativa e tecnologia interativa.

Durante a manhã, caminhamos junto à água. Observamos, escutamos, recolhemos sons, imagens e memórias. Conchas escondidas pelo percurso convidam-nos a revisitar a nossa relação com o oceano.

À tarde, exploramos essas recolhas através da escrita e da imaginação:
Como recorda a água?
Como sente o tempo uma alga?

Por fim, introdução ao TouchDesigner e a sensores táteis Playtronica — pequenas experiências onde objetos naturais podem ativar sons e histórias digitais. Uma concha que guarda uma memória. Um fragmento de paisagem que responde ao toque.

🏺 Residência em foco: “Sea Shells, She Tells”, por Helin Ulas e Rita Eperjesi

No âmbito do desafio “Novas Águas, Velhas Histórias – Regenerar o Património Cultural Ligado à Água”, destacamos a residência liderada por Helin Ulas (Turquia) e Rita Eperjesi (Hungria), artistas e investigadoras que trabalham na interseção entre arte, tecnologia, ciência e comunidade.

💧 “Sea Shells, She Tells” propõe um gesto simples e poderoso: transformar a ansiedade climática em agência climática. O projeto parte de uma observação quase infantil — ao encostar uma concha ao ouvido, ouvimos o mar — para lançar uma pergunta maior: E se o oceano pudesse realmente falar? Que histórias nos contaria sobre as mudanças que está a viver?

A partir de dados científicos, histórias locais e património costeiro, o projeto procura dar voz à água e reforçar a centralidade da justiça climática, mostrando como a arte pode criar pontes entre diferentes saberes e atores.

O projeto materializa-se em três eixos:
• uma instalação site-specific em Esposende;
• um fluxo contínuo online, onde as histórias da água se desenrolam;
• um kit para que qualquer pessoa possa construir o seu próprio Shell Phone.

Mais do que um objeto, pretende-se criar uma comunidade de pessoas atentas — pessoas que atendem quando a Natureza liga. 📞🌊

Nos primeiros meses da residência, Helin e Rita estiveram em Esposende a conhecer o território, as pessoas e as histórias ligadas ao mar. Atualmente, encontram-se a investigar sargaço, conchas, materiais e abordagens conceptuais, preparando os próximos passos.

💧 Sobre as artistas:
Helin Ulas é académica e artista, investigando o modo como a tecnologia molda a cultura e impacta comunidades, trabalhando com a água como metáfora e arquivo vivo.
Rita Eperjesi é tecnóloga criativa e artista, explorando narrativas e tecnologias acessíveis através de métodos lúdicos e participativos.

Public Shorts is live. A 24/7 video festival in Berlin, looping short films on street-facing screens in Neukölln, from February 27 to March 15, 2026.

Stripped of their original function, ceramic objects emerge as autonomous characters that reveal a life of their own, forming an inverted spatial landscape where the gaze no longer comes from human beings, but from the everyday actions of inanimate objects and street furniture that is normally discarded. From outside, the viewer observes this silent choreography through the window, a scene in which the familiar becomes uncanny and the ghostly city unfolds without the need for human presence. One-Day Workshop: Machine Tufting for beginners
Create a small rug or wall piece: no prior experience required!

What is the Introductory Machine Tufting in Berlin about?
Tired of staring at screens all day and craving a hands-on creative break? Already stressing about handmade Christmas gifts?

In this four-hour introductory workshop, you’ll explore the basics of machine tufting and learn how to craft a custom rug or wall hanging up to 32 cm x 32 cm. You’ll have the chance to try tufting guns, work alongside others, and choose from a wide selection of acrylic yarn colors to make a personal artwork. At the end of the session, you’ll leave behind your piece that will be finished and ready for pickup once backed.

What is included?
The workshop provides all tools and materials, including canvas, tufting machines, yarn spinners, and a wide variety of acrylic yarns. Once we apply the backing, your rug will be ready to collect within three business days.

Price: 150 euros - for one rug. You can work alone or bring a friend / family member / stranger
