Gaudi's Park Güell.
Friday, got done before the rain.
Another bucket list item for me.
I almost missed the washerwoman piller.
Loved all of it, but there was some path reconstruction being done that I hadn't read about.
We had the opening time of 9:30 am booked and it was a lot busier when we left.
We included his home/museum on our ticket. by @kandcsailing

Action shot by my new Samsung Galaxy s26 as I was falling in Barcelona on Saturday afternoon. Had my phone in my left hand and it decided on it's own to document the moment. I was surprised to find it in my camera roll later.

We've been walking around both days with our light rain jackets.  I could have done without falling flat on my back from a metal plate and getting soaked.  Some lovely strangers (pictured, plus one more) helped me up and so far I'm still sore and stiff.  One Teva sandal in the top right. by @kandcsailing

Day 1 in Barcelona.
Caught the port bus out and then walked to our hotel.
Dropped off our carry-ons and backpacks and kept going to see 2 Antonio Gaudi buildings.
Coffee at a Corgi Cafe.

Afternoon tickets for La Sagrada Família. What an amazing building.  Photos don't even come close to showing the scale or the light through the stained glass.

Walked 28,500 steps this afternoon, had a late lunch at 6 pm, then out for Tapas in the Gothic District at 9. Up over 33,000 steps now. by @kandcsailing

Marseille, France
Did a 2 hour walking tours and learned a lot.
Got to see a multi million dollar yacht being raised in the harbour.  It sank after a fire on July 6th.

Portofino, Italy 🇮🇹

We took a ferry to San Fruttuoso, did the Abby and I climbed to the bottom of the tower. I think it's apartments or a house now from the laundry on the far side. Not the laundry posted. The two stone beaches were popular. I found a few green sea glass pieces.

My best view of the Portofino Lighthouse was from the ferry. We did the trail and steps to the church (wasn't open), saw the cemetery, passed Castello Brown, the fort and continued the trail to find out the Lighthouse has no access close, but 2 bars.
Saw this lovely memorial in the cemetery that felt like me after. by @kandcsailing

Day 2 in La Spezia. We used our 2 day train tickets to return to the middle Cinque Terre village of Corniglia to get the small shuttle bus up from the station. We could see the church we visited in Vernazza. After we trained to the south most village of Riomaggiore, explored downhill from the train station tunnel and booked the ferry to Porto Venere on the south point.
The church was setting up for a wedding with tons of flowers.
Had a great moon over the mountains and sunset behind Porto Venere as we were sailing away. by @kandcsailing

Walked to the train and went from LA Spezia to 4 of the 5 villages in Cinque Terre. Might try for the middle village tomorrow and ferry to Porto Venere.
My phone is telling me we did over 30,000 steps or 24.26 km.
A bucket list day for me. by @kandcsailing

We did an underground tour this morning that covered the ancient Greek aquaducts that were later used for WW2 storage and bunkers during bombings.
There was one section at the end where you didn't want to be claustrophobic in dark skinny tunnels. I found it tight at the beginning. Had my tiny flashlight in my purse so I didn't have to use my phone flashlight.

Started out from the ship to do Herculaneum on our own but had a boo boo and picked the wrong light rail train on our track. Figured it out, but felt like we were in a Wes Anderson movie when the station was almost empty, except for a cleaner, two young men from Seattle and the next train took forever. Just needed a tumbleweed rolling by. We'll try again on a future trip.

Stopped for a Medina pizza, with provola, bacon, pistachios, cacioricotta cheese and basil. by @kandcsailing

Wandered Civitavecchia more in the morning and walked to the pier shuttle bus. On board by 1 pm.
Our cabin is right in the bow.
I've had a desire for laundry shots since I used to work with Patrick who has great shot from Florence, Italy.
One day I'll hang a few in my laundry room for inspiration. by @kandcsailing

Arrived in Civitavecchia.
Had a nice late seafood dinner on a patio. Cam really enjoyed his daily catch Sea Bream (Orato in Italian).
Our apartment hotel is great. Cute room with a skinny balcony and an indoor and outdoor lounge space to share with 3 other rooms. I'd stay here again.
More to see in the morning before we board Celebrity Equinox. taken in Civitavecchia by @kandcsailing
