What made October 10 special wasn’t just what happened on stage — it was the community that came together to make it possible. ❤️ Behind Yavanika were 115 cast, crew and tech members, including 30+ people participating on or off stage for the very first time. The journey brought together generations — from 8 to 74 years old — and more than 3,000 volunteer hours. We’re deeply thankful to the families of our volunteers for supporting the rehearsals, late nights and weekends that made this possible. To our sponsors, patrons, cast, crew, tech team, volunteers, first-timers, families and audience — thank you for showing up for Yavanika and for community arts. ✨One stage. Many hands. One incredible community.✨ #yavanika2026 #aranguseattle #departures #thestagethatcelebratesyou by @kanjukan
Mathayi by @kanjukan
Yavanika 2026: Departures- Three powerful dramas, one stage, pure magic! Huge applause to the director for delivering stories that were intimate, moving, and beautifully staged from start to finish, and to the set, lighting, sound, costume, and backstage teams for creating such an immersive world. Every performer brought heart and authenticity to the stage. Kudos to everyone on stage and behind the scenes—a proud day for the Seattle Malayali community! 👏🎭 by @kanjukan
Mathaiyude Maranam … A story that makes you question your life’s choices. A masterpiece that taps into the profound ache of aging parents watching their children leave for distant shores, confined within four walls echoing with a lifetime of memories…..and a heavy, lingering emptiness. Yesterday, Mathayi and Paapi completely stole our hearts. Theirs was a rare, coveted camaraderie that transcended mere friendship…a performance that will be etched in our memories for ages to come. True to the magic of live theatre, you made us laugh and cry with every subtle nuance, your larger-than-life presence on stage, the authentic dialect, and those brilliant live ad-libs. Being blessed to be part of the crew meant I watched this umpteen times. Yet, I will never tire of its theatrics or the fresh magic it brought every single night. You had me sobbing every single time. @kanjukan you were a Masterclasses on Stage. You transformed your entire body into an absolute vessel for Mathayi…from the staggering body language and voice modulation , dialect to the antics and the haunting look in your eyes. You made us completely forget that Mithun even existed! @rahulsreekumar an epitome of Talent ! How do you do it every single time? You tugged at our heartstrings when you cried, letting us relive the raw grief of Mathayi’s passing. Those hesitant head scratches, the lungi used as a makeshift blanket, and those terrified screams at the sight of a ghost…….is there a genre you *can’t* conquer? You both left us awestruck, speechless, and desperately wanting more. I am so looking forward to working with talents like you. From one artist to another: you didn’t just act. You lived your characters. You were …”Mathayi and Paapi”. by @kanjukan
These two didn't just perform their scenes... They devoured every moment and left absolutely no crumbs behind. An absolute masterclass in stage presence. The chemistry was so effortless, so authentic, that the line between acting and reality simply disappeared. @kanjukan and @rahulsreekumar had vanished into thin air and came as Mathayi and Paapi. @kanjukan .. even in death, you were astonishing. Honestly, I still cannot comprehend how you remained so perfectly still for that long. Not even a twitch. I genuinely wondered whether that body in the coffin was a prop and not a living human. Simple because @shibu.babyz is capable of that magic as well. The moment you exploded out of that coffin, the entire atmosphere in the hall changed. It was one of those rare theatrical moments that jolts the audience and reminds them why live theatre is irreplaceable. I was strongly hoping that Mathayi would never find his way back into that coffin. You are supremely talented, my friend. May God bless you with countless more stages! @rahulsreekumar ever since that tiny role in Mudranguleeyam where you first put Seattle on notice, you have done nothing but prove, production after production, that you are here to stay. Whether it is film or theatre, whenever you appear, magic happens. There is never a dull moment. Every dialogue is executed with remarkable precision from beginning to end. You lived through your heart and soul as Paapi. And that scene before the final parting... That scene broke me. How do you do this? And every single time? There was such vulnerability, such truth, such heartbreaking humanity in that moment that it lingered long after the lights faded. What a script by John Fernandez! Mathayi and Paapi have settled in our hearts and refuse to leave. A huge round of applause to @shibu.babyz and @manju_jyothish and the entire crew for the breathtaking sets on stage. Congrats to everyone actor in Yavanika for pouring your heart and soul into this production. Congrats to @rishirajr and @arangu.thestage team for Departures! by @kanjukan
