‘I read for the same reason that I ate or drank; because it was a real craving of nature.’ 📚

Brontë is back! This November we'll be exploring the extraordinary lives of the Brontë sisters through choral music and spoken word, in a performance co-curated by @ellie.slorach and Elizabeth Gaskell expert Dr Sherry Ashworth.

Seen through the eyes of their friend and champion, Elizabeth Gaskell, this immersive hour-long performance transports audiences to the windswept Yorkshire moors where the sisters penned their timeless stories and challenged the social expectations and constraints placed upon women of their time.

12.11 - The Great Hall, Lancaster with @lancasterartsuk
14.11 - @stollerhall, Manchester
15.11 - Haworth Church, Haworth

Hear co-curator and Elizabeth Gaskell expert, Dr Sherry Ashworth, giving some insight into the spoken word elements of our Brontë show. Alongside a mixture of choral works, the performance features poetry and prose by the Brontë sisters themselves and words from their supporter and friend, Elizabeth Gaskell.

Team @kantoschoir @englishnationalopera last night - absolutely phenomenal first London performance of @duyun & @rvavrek mind blowing genre-smashing explicit modern opera ‘Angel’s Bone’. Incredible performances by all 👏 in such a difficult story about the greed, lust and sexual exploitation in human nature.. even to two beautiful angels 🤍 who have fallen to earth.

When was the last time you let your inner child take over?

At under a minute long, ‘stay away from clocks’ may be the shortest track on Nathan James Dearden’s debut album ‘i breathe’, but it packs a lot into it.

Performed by Kantos Chamber Choir from Manchester and conducted by Ellie Slorach, the piece is a burst of child-like chaos. It is about letting go, losing track of time, and giving yourself permission to simply play.

‘stay away from clocks’ is out now on Signum Classics. You can find it wherever you stream your music.

💿 The full album, i breathe, is released 6 November 2026.
