I'm sharing some of my personal work here with you - old and new.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Today I have two miniatures I’d like to show you - the Epic Warcaster Irusk for Warmachine Khador and the Dawnguard General Vyrus.

Vyrus dates from 2009 and was designed for the then brand-new Retribution of Scyrah army. All in all, it’s a very elegant and understated design, yet packed with detail.

I’m actually quite proud of Epic Irusk and his sheer abundance of detail.

The first sketch looked a little different. I modelled Irusk based on the second sketch.

I even took some in-progress photos of this figure. When modelling capes and, as here, the heavy banner, I like to support freshly modelled parts with wire. This keeps them in the desired position and allows them to set properly.

It was great fun modelling Irusk and I’m quite pleased with the result. by @kaptnklocke

Sometimes I’m surprised by the companies I’ve worked for in the past. And lo and behold, I’ve found some old pictures from Upper Deck’s World of Warcraft Miniatures Game!

We’ll start with the Night Elf Ferynn Windsong. I hope the name’s right, as the illustrations I was given were labelled WM4 06.

It was quite difficult to capture the style of the WoW PC game. It was even harder to combine it with my own style. But I think I managed it reasonably well, don’t you think?

Freebooter’s Fate is barely a year old, and already the Amazons are causing quite a stir on Leonera.

I really enjoyed sculpting all the Amazons. But a particular challenge was Occepa. How could I sculpt her with her crocodile head whilst still ensuring the mould-makers could produce a mould of her? It ended up with a huge number of parts - but it worked out!

Of course, there were other figures in 2011 as well. For example, Regicide for the Pirates - whom I still think are quite good.

Overall, my sculptures were very feminine - which suited me down to the ground, as I love sculpting female figures. 😉 by @kaptnklocke

Warzone Mutant Chronicles characters from the Brotherhood, Bauhaus and Imperial Cooperation.

Having sculpted a few Dark Legion characters, I was able to turn my attention to the Brotherhood. I created a Pilgrim, a Crucifier and a Visionary.

For the Pilgrim, I’d sculpted a shield in advance and had it copied. With all the rose tendrils and symbols, I was actually too lazy to make two of them.

For the four-armed Crucifier, there was a fantastic Dark Eden cover by Paul Bonner. I think it comes from the CCG.

As far as I know, the Visionary was only available in a box set alongside a Dark Legion character and a cardboard cathedral.

Then I was able to sculpt the Venusian Marshal based on the great cover for the Bauhaus army book. By @paulbonner58 of course.

For three years, from 1996 to 1998, I worked for the Swedish company Target Games. They had brilliant tabletop games such as Warzone and Chronopia, as well as TTCs set in the world of Mutant Chronicles. The miniatures were produced by Heartbreaker Hobbies at the time, and I mainly dealt with them. I got to know them through the Canadian miniatures manufacturer Rafm.

You’re wondering why I jumped on board straight away and am totally into Warzone Mutant Chronicles? Really? Just take a look at Paul Bonner’s @paulbonner58 fantastic artwork! 🤩

And I was really lucky enough to be able to bring some of Paul’s characters to life as miniatures: the Venusian Marshal, the Crucifier from Dark Eden and, above all, the Dark Legion character Metropolitan Prophet.

Today I’m showing you a few of the Dark Legion characters I’ve sculpted. The Dark Legion is, in a way, the equivalent of Chaos from Warhammer and 40k. Unfortunately I don't have pics of the greens.

Did you know there was a Warzone comic? A cool story about the betrayal of a high-ranking Bauhaus officer who defected to the Dark Legion. Illustrated by none other than Paolo Parente, Simon Bisley and Alex Horley. I’ve sculpted two figures from it: Golgahta, a Nepharite of Algeroth, and Stahler, the Bauhaus traitor.

I particularly enjoyed sculpted Golgatha. OK, I’d do her quite differently today, but back in 1996 she wasn’t half bad, was she? 😉

Oh, man! Look at all the things I’ve found whilst sorting through my collection for the Bitbox:

Ratspyke, painted by Matt Parkes!

Unbelievable. I’d almost forgotten that I own another of Matt’s painted Femme Militant by John Blanche figures. Matt painted the metal figure. It’s the first version of Ratspyke with the larger, angular pistol.

Do you like it?

Matt has also painted Mary Bones. That post is from June. You can find it further down. by @kaptnklocke

Slaanesh Cultists

Whilst sorting through my collection for the Bitbox (the tabletop miniatures flea market in Mülheim an der Ruhr), I came across these Slaanesh Cultists for Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

I reckon I have so many figures that I can only remember half of them. 🙈

The conversions were done a good 20 years ago and were intended as a unit for my Slaanesh Chaos army.

They were meant to look as though this cult had formed in one of the cities of the Empire. So they should give clear indications of urban life.

To achieve this, I mainly used figures from the Mordheim range and combined them with Daemonettes and other Slaanesh parts. I think there’s also a Beastman and a Dark Elf in the mix. Let’s see if I carry on with the project? I’d quite like to. 😁

I’ll be bringing some of the figures along to Bitbox. 😉

All the conversions were done using Green Stuff and Brown Stuff. by @kaptnklocke

AF-Preview 2/5

I sculpted this Dark Elf Queen in 2008 for @reaperminiatures
Hand-sculpted using Green Stuff. I used the silver wires you can see behind the figure to support the long trumpet sleeves until the Green Stuff had set.

The only thing I don’t know is her name. I often receive a sketch with a name or even just a description, and the character’s name is changed before publication.

Do you know her name? by @kaptnklocke

Golden Demon UK 2004

After six years, I’ve returned to the Adeptus Sororitas for this Golden Demon entry. This time, we travelled to Birmingham again.

I had a female Inquisitor in mind - who was inspired just a little by John Blanche’s fantastic cover for the Sisters of Battle Codex 2nd edition for Warhammer 40K. OK, OK, the idea for the conversion was pretty much inspired by that. 😉

As a base, I sawed up a couple of metal Battlesisters and reassembled them. Well, half of them, anyway.
There’s quite a lot of conversion work involved, and this time I even took photos of the process.

I deliberately kept the colours similar to the Sisters of Battle unit from 1998. Looking back now, I’d say - yes, OK, but a different colour scheme would have been better.
I’m still a bit proud of the freehand details on her cloak, though.

All the hard work and especially nerves during the competition were rewarded with a Bronze Golden Demon in the 40K single miniature category. 😁 by @kaptnklocke
