It’s publication week for this next installment in the Encyclopedia of Inspiration book series from @uppercasemag! My copies are on their way and I’m so excited. Not only is this book all about collage makers (swoon), but I’m one of the artists featured! ✂️ I came across @uppercasemag a few years ago, and it has since become deeply important to my growth and well-being as an artist. Every magazine and book has been worth every penny—gorgeous, inspiring, welcoming, celebratory, community-creating. Editor and designer Janine Vangool does most of the work herself, elevating the work of so many incredible creators—it’s well worth supporting if this kind of thing speaks to you. You can order the book or an issue of UPPERCASE at uppercasemagazine.com. Use the code “specialglue” for 10% off! 🩵💙💚 Cover artists here are @julie.liger.belair, @paigehigginbotham, and @younkle_mark. 😍😍😍 by @karammck
A little zine I made about collage, just for fun. Inspired by an online workshop I signed up for last fall, @karenabend’s fantastic (free!) “Sketchbook Revival” series. @cayleegrey used tracing paper to make a zine and I thought the translucent pages were so cool. . . . #zine #zinemaking #sketchbookrevival #artjournal #mixedmedia #papercraft #papercollage #whycollage #collageartist #artplay by @karammck
Another batch of paint chip collages I haven’t yet posted, all incorporating text in some way. 🎨 🍅 🌱 🖋️🪷 🌹 #collage #paintchipart #paintswatchart #reuse #paperscraps by @karammck
A photo of the daily poetry class I attended over the last week. Does it get any more beautiful? The people I met and wrote with last week in these mountains were just as stunning as the view—incredibly talented, endlessly interesting, and deeply kind. By random good fortune—by that I mean the generosity of @eastoverpress and @cutleafjournal and the thoughtfulness of @keithlesmeister and @dentonloving—I found myself in North Carolina at the Table Rock Writers Workshop this year. Nothing beats a community of artists, these amazing views, and almost no wifi for a week. I’m full of emotions and poems and very, very grateful. 💚 by @karammck
Sunday afternoon collaging with my girl Lucy. 🐈‍⬛ On the floor, where it’s most comfortable! 😄 #collagepractice #sketchbookcollage #collagecat #artpractice #cutandpaste by @karammck
Collage with pages from a thrifted book. Swipe for close-ups and some early iterations I almost didn’t want to cover up. This one in particular captures so much of what I love about collage—serendipitous, full of contrasts, something already beautiful made surprising. #bookpageart #blackandwhite #collageoftheday #collageartist contemporarycollagemagazine by @karammck
Out of this batch of #paintswatchcollages I think “Night Music” (third image) is my favorite. 🎵💜🌱 What do you think? #paintchipart #collage #paintswatchart #minicollage by @karammck
A little batch of paint chip collages… My favorite today might be the third. 🌱🌳🥝🥬📗🍋‍🟩🍐🫑♻️ #paintswatchart #paintchipart #paintchipcollage #collage #minicollage by @karammck
Birds! 🦉🐦‍⬛🪿 3”x 3” collages on paint chips. Because cute. #birdart #collage #paintchipart #paintchipcollage #minicollagecollective by @karammck

More summer paint chip collages. 🎨☀️ My attic studio is toasty these days in Kansas City, and fans are tricky around collage, so I’m working small. 😅 #collagelove #artpractice #paintswatches #collage #minicollage by @karammck
