My South Bay peeps! Don’t miss this screening in Santa Clara. This was an excellent documentary about the indigenous Hawaiian struggle to protect the people and the land of the Mākua Valley on Oahu from expropriation by the US military for devastating and destructive live fire training. Amazing account of the voices of the people in a brilliant film directed by Mikey Inouye. by @karaokecomputer

Today is California Native American Day. As we celebrate this day & the people, the caretakers, & heritage of this beautiful land, we recognize that the struggle of the indigenous peoples of California is connected to the the struggles of all native Americans & occupied people around the world, including the people of Palestine & the Zioni$t occupation of the land of my ancestors, Lebanon.

I sang this song at the Riverside premiere of Mālama Mākua, a brilliant documentary on the heroic Hawaiian victory over the US military's ongoing destruction of the Mākua valley through weapons testing & training.

Solidarity Forever!

🎥 Film Synopsis:

Nestled on the far West Side of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, Mākua is a sacred valley where Native Hawaiian creation stories tell of earth and sky deities giving birth to the first people. Once a thriving community rich in natural abundance, Mākua’s was taken by the U.S. Army, which forcibly evicted its residents. For decades, the valley and its pristine beach were subjected to relentless military bombing and live-fire training, scarring both land and spirit in the name of national security. “Mālama Mākua” tells the story of a community that banded together to end the Military destruction of Mākua. taken in Davis Friends Meeting by @karaokecomputer

It was such a joy to collaborate with Mikey for the Riverside premiere of his film, Mālama Mākua @backtothegrind

I got to sing some anti-imperialist songs of struggle to warm up the attendees before the magnificent film that documents the unceasing native Hawaiian resistance to the US military's destruction of the land. Check out the film @karaokecomputer

Sidenote, I think @sarcastic.shakaaa & I need to do a whole photo series of matching shirts. 😜 taken in Back To The Grind by @karaokecomputer
