A little bit of exciting news...

The Riverview bathroom has been named a finalist in the KBDi 2026 Small Bathrooms NSW category!

This project had a small footprint, a dated layout and a lot of potential.

The goal was to create a space that felt calm, functional and a little bit hotel-like, while making every square centimetre work as hard as possible.

I'm incredibly proud of the end result and genuinely thrilled to see it recognised.

A big thank you to my clients for trusting me with their home, and to KBDi and their generous sponsors for supporting our industry.

So thrilled to see our Naremburn project in the latest Home Design magazine.
This project was a personal favourite — thoughtful design, beautiful finishes, and the loveliest clients who made it all such a great experience.

The feature was part of my People’s Choice win in the KBDi kitchen awards — such a nice bonus to an already rewarding project.

I am beyond thrilled to announce that we won the KBDi and K&B 2024 People’s Choice Award for Kitchen Design of the Year 🏆⭐️

Thank you to everyone who voted for our gorgeous Greenwich kitchen. It’s such an honour to have clients who aren’t afraid of colour and who trust the design process. It enables us to create unique and stylish designs that win awards like this one!

A little more from this accessible home, this time the guest bathroom

I absolutely love the blue wall tiles in here. My client said he feels like he’s underwater when he’s in this room, which made me laugh, but I know exactly what he means. There’s something really lovely and calming about being surrounded by all that blue.

I designed the vanity with the rounded end to soften the space and make it easier to move around, and I love how the curve works against the square wall tiles.

Then we had a bit of fun with the patterned floor tile, which I think really makes the room.

Like the kitchen and other bathroom I’ve shared from this home, accessibility was part of every decision, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t also be a beautiful, fun space with loads of personality.

I think this might be one of my favourite rooms in the house.

Just because a bathroom needs to be accessible doesn’t mean it can’t also be beautiful.

This bathroom was designed for the same lovely client as the kitchen I shared recently, who uses a wheelchair.

There were obviously lots of practical things I needed to consider with the layout, circulation, heights and how everything would work for her day to day. But those requirements didn’t need to dictate how the bathroom felt.

For me, good design is about making a space work beautifully for the person who actually uses it. And I think this bathroom does exactly that.

Who says accessible spaces can’t also be beautiful?

Working closely with my client, who uses a wheelchair, I designed the kitchen, walk-in pantry and adjoining laundry around how she actually uses these spaces day to day.

There were lots of practical things to consider, from how she moves between each room to what she needs within easy reach, making sure everything is comfortable and easy for her to use.

But practical doesn’t have to mean clinical or boring. I wanted all three spaces to feel connected, warm and colourful, while still working beautifully for her.

I really love how these rooms came together. They’re designed specifically around the person who lives here, and unless someone told you they were designed to be accessible, I’m not sure you’d necessarily know.

Which is kind of the point.

The @kbdi.org.au & @acfaofficial Awards were in Sydney recently and, while we didn’t take home an award this year, it was still pretty special to be a finalist amongst so many talented designers and beautiful projects.

A huge thank you to my lovely clients for letting me enter their home. I’m always so grateful to have clients who trust me to do what I do, and then generously let me photograph and share the end result.

And of course, these projects never happen without a great team. A big thank you to @bellebathrooms, our joiners @cortisjoinery, and all the trades and suppliers who helped bring everything together. @cavart_ds @eliabathrooms @dilorenzo_tiles

Thank you to KBDi, ACFA and the judges for recognising our project. The standard of work this year was incredible, so I was very happy just to be amongst it.

Such a great night catching up with friends, celebrating our industry and feeling very lucky that I get to do a job I love. by @karas_design

This project was a little different from my usual ones.

The clients had already engaged an architect for their renovation in Ryde and came to me to help refine some of the interior details, particularly the kitchen and bathroom layouts.

But my favourite part came once the building work was finished.

They had downsized previously and were now moving into a much larger home, so we started from scratch. Every piece of furniture, every rug, every light and every artwork was carefully selected to suit the space and the way they wanted to live. Even the family dog looked like she'd always belonged there.

While I'm often involved from the very beginning of a renovation, I also love stepping in once the bones are in place to help bring everything together. It's amazing how much warmth and personality furniture, lighting, artwork and styling can add to a home.

I have to admit, seeing it all come together at the end is one of my favourite parts of the job. by @karas_design

The humble laundry is working VERY hard these days…

One thing we’re seeing more and more in renovations is people combining their laundry with a powder room or second bathroom, especially when space is tight and every part of the home needs to work harder.

And honestly, when it’s designed well, it can work really beautifully.

This was our Greenwich project where we managed to fit a full functioning laundry, toilet and shower into quite a compact space without it feeling cramped or overly “laundry-ish” (definitely not an official design term).

I think the trick with spaces like this is making them feel considered and cohesive rather than purely practical.

Because functional spaces can still feel calm, beautiful and really nice to be in.
