The earth just shifted and it will be NEVER be the same. Rest in Peace and perfect penmanship @thelegendaryblackice ! I love you my dear brother.

I’d been studying the teachings of Black Ice since I was 16 years old and a decade later @khemist_lv introduced us as collaborators on his #D2WR album. Ever since then, a brotherhood was formed. A bond that transcended poetry. We talked as brothers.
We talked as fathers
We talked as men navigating grief.

@khemist_lv I thank you for connecting us. And I thank you for being a brother though all seasons. I know this one hurts tremendously. You know how much I love you and support you! But absolutely No body supported you like @thelegendaryblackice . 💯🙏🏿 by @karegabailey

Tonight’s set is in honor of my dear brother @thelegendaryblackice !! @purepoetrylive was the 1st stage we shared together after @khemist_lv but brought us together for his #D2DWR album.

I was living in the DMV at the time and I watched @orvillethepoet and his team build @purepoetrylive brick by brick, so I was always happy to invite out of town talent that I built relationships with. And this time it was the once in a generation artists @thelegendaryblackice & @khemist_lv .

So tonight as God would write it, I’m here in the DMV where it all started. @orvillethepoet thank you for moving in the spirit King! Tonight is sacred. @prenticepowell1906 told me to leave it all on stage. And so it is.

After more than 2 weeks in the hospital and a particularly intense stay in the ICU I am overjoyed to share that our Father has been successfully discharged. Glory to God in the highest!!

I am aware that We’ve got a journey ahead of us for his recovery, but in the PRESENT moment, I’m grateful that we have options Amen!!!

He isn’t home with his family just yet, but he is getting stronger and so is my Faith!

I love you Dad and I’m proud of you. And also I’m deeply proud of My family, my siblings, and my Mom for how we worked together to advocate for him and meet his needs.

Thank you to the folks who prayed for him and prayed for us.
Some days I was so tired, I couldn’t even pray for myself.
But I could pray for my Father.

Blessings abound to all my folks out there caring for aging parents. It is not easy, but it IS BEAUTIFUL. 🙏🏿
