Shabbat Shalom. Shift. Life shifts expectedly and unexpectedly. It’s those around you who remind you that while change maybe happening, your friends, colleagues and family will have your back. Everything you do and don’t do in your life pays in dividends. Treat others well, be kind, listen to what people say and don’t say and just be a good human, and others will gravitate towards your light. So that even when it dims a bit, the strength of your tribe will hold you up. We do not exist on an island. Connect, be gracious, and the shift of life will ebb and flow with those who love you next to you. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Steady. Remember who you are when the world around you feels out of sorts. Stay true to your values. Exemplify them in your life. Live each day recognizing that the way you move in this world, everything you do and don’t do, has only one way to be: genuine. You can feel it when you live in truth. It’s honest. And you can feel when you move away from your true self because your steps become unstable. Be you. Connect with others. It only takes one light to brighten the world around us. Keep shining. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Expansive. Our lives are meant to expand. We can become complacent and content even though we are meant to learn and grow. What did you learn today? What are you in the middle of learning? How about tomorrow? Growth requires intention and our brain craves it. It brings newness and depth to our lives. We aren’t meant to stand still. Always move forward. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Dreams. They are inside you needing to come out and are the dreams you’ve had since you were a child. Life then came in and clouded the visions in your dreams and you went on with your existence. But you were placed here with a passion, with your dreams and within your world, no matter what your age, they still exist. There is a reason they exist, because no one else here on this earth is you. You are a unique creation. Honor yourself by giving yourself permission to explore why you are here. Dream. Dream big. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Break. Some days we just need a break. Just stop. The world will continue to turn. Close the laptop. Step outside. Just for a few minutes. Breathe. Reset. Whenever everything hitting your body seems a bit much, make the effort to provide your body and mind what it needs-disconnection in order to reconnect with who you are at a basic level. You’re just a human being who needs to feel like a human being again. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Memories. It’s a day to remember, to mourn, to cry, to be grateful for our lives and for all of the moments that allowed us to reach this place and time. Our souls see each other with loving eyes. Hate is taught. Not by the Almighty, but by those who wish to divide and control us. Our purpose is to live out our lives in creativity with a passion that drives us. For some it’s artistic, others it’s numbers, the law, working with your hands, your mind and your heart. There is no right way to exist in this world, but you were created as a perfect being to live in your genuine strength and light. Respecting the journey of each of us, respects the journey of all of us. L’Shana Tovah and Happy 5787. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Autonomy. We want to be able to make decisions and stay independent and safe in our own homes as long as possible. One illness, injury or accident can change that, but then what happens? Do we voluntarily start shifting into such a realization that we may need help in our home or even may need to live elsewhere, or is such a decision then left to our children? As I see this delicate balance play out time and again, I would offer you this: protect the dignity of your loved one as much as possible and have these conversations sooner rather than later. Planning early, better conversations, prevent conflict. Aging is not easy. One day you’re fine and the next day something hurts without any explanation. Remember, someday, we all hope to age well, but life surprises us. Lead with love in hard conversations, protect dignity and be kind. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Knowledge. The most humbling phrase any of us can say is “I don’t know.” There is so much to learn that we will never know everything. In this age of having access to information at the tips of our fingertips, we sometimes think that if we’ve read an article or watch a reel, that we have become the expert. Understanding that a little research is helpful, but that relying on those who are experts is paramount to informed critical thinking. Always continue to learn. Never be afraid to ask questions or to just know what you don’t know and continue the exploration for more information. Find a variety of sources and just open your mind to new ideas. It’s how we grow. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj

Shabbat Shalom. Doors. Our lives are made up of doors that open and close. As events shift in and out of our lives, we can decide whether to hold open the possibilities that new experiences can bring and also learn which chapters need to be closed shut. Knowing what to embrace and what to let go of can be a difficult learning curve, but it is a part of life worth living. Examining the events, and what they really mean for you, having a viewpoint of taking intentional action instead of floating through life, means that our lives are worthy and deserving of our attention. Move in the direction that feeds your soul and select the direction of the doors carefully. Time to rest and renew my friends. Good Shabbos. #shabbatshalom by @karentelj
