Today, we turn 3! 💜

It’s been a fun ride filled with food, joy and the occasional stress (looking at you, water shortages, electricity outages in the middle of Sunday lunch service, and rainy downpours that make us feel like we’re in a flood 🥲).

A big thank you to all our lovely guests, friends and families. We wouldn’t be here without y’all! And a special shout-out to all our mummies who religiously like and share every single post. You know who you are 🫶🏼

This year, we’ve decided to try something new and open up Kari Apla to our friends, bringing a little bit of their world to our table in Mumbai.

Introducing In Good Company — a new series that brings together farms, producers and food enthusiasts over special, limited-time menus, served at Kari Apla.

For our very first edition, we’re delighted to welcome our dear friends Senjuti and Abhishek, co-founders of the wonderful Earth Story Farms, who have been bringing native Bengali ingredients and forgotten food traditions into the spotlight.

Their Taal Gur has long been a cherished ingredient in our Jaggery Cake, a favourite among our guests. This time, we’re taking things a little further, bringing their stories, recipes and memories to the table through a special thali inspired by the food they grew up with, their homes and their families — interpreted and served in true Kari Apla fashion.

Banana Leaf Roasted Fish, our version of a Meen Pollichathu, inspired by the legendary Mrs. B. F. Varughese, whose cookbooks are a staple in Syrian Christian homes in Kerala.
A thick slice of fish is marinated in a masala of onions, Kerala Tamarind and spices, wrapped in a banana leaf and grilled.
We serve it with parottas, and it’s a delicious meal.

Available for dine in, and delivery on Zomato & Swiggy.
