Freaking SWOONING over these photos of our #majesticoaks project!

We started this project in 2022 when this house was nothing but dirt and I am filled with gratitude that I got to be a part of this journey and play a small part in this beautiful family’s story!

This year has been one of many lessons and learnings. We’ve had some of our biggest projects to date and I can finally feel all the hard work paying off. Feeling so very proud of myself and how far KDS has come!

We have a few more projects to share with you this year so stay tuned! We are just getting started ✨

So we’re thinking… arches. Plural.

There’s nothing I respect more than a contractor who hears our wild idea and just… starts measuring.

The finished spaces get photographed. This part usually doesn’t.

Before construction is complete and the furniture is installed, there are months of conversations, presentations, drawings, selections, revisions, site visits, and decisions that all have to work together.

And that’s really the value of full-service design. We’re not just thinking about what each individual room will look like. We’re keeping track of how the materials, finishes, furnishings, architectural details, and day-to-day function connect across the entire home.

A lot of the work happens long before there’s a finished space to show for it. But you can feel it when everything finally comes together.

Every luxury renovation is built on hundreds of thoughtful decisions.

From site visits and material selections to refining plans alongside builders and trade partners, the work behind the scenes is what brings each home to life. It’s a collaborative process focused on creating spaces that feel intentional from the ground up.

Pinterest is great at showing you a color palette you love. What it doesn’t always show you is why those colors work in that particular space.

Choosing color goes way beyond picking a favorite shade. We’re thinking about the natural light, the materials already in the room, how the space connects to the rest of the home, and most importantly, how you actually want it to feel.

Does the room need to feel calm and restful? Bright and energetic? Warm and inviting? Should the color be the main character, or does it need to support everything else happening in the space?

That’s the part of color selection you don’t always see in the finished photo. A good palette isn’t just pretty. It’s doing a job.

My home 🤍

Officially in the home stretch! Rooms are getting painted, lighting is going in, and all the details I’ve spent so much time dreaming up are finally coming to life. There’s something so special about watching it all come together and slowly start to feel like home. Picturing my babies here is bringing me so much joy ✨ taken in Dallas, Texas by @kariadesignstudio

There’s a lot we love about this stage of a project.

The architectural details are taking shape, materials are starting to come together, and you can finally see decisions that were made months ago become part of the home.

A little inspiration from the construction side of what we do.

Now booking 2027 projects.

A good paint color can still be the wrong paint color for a particular room.

What we’re really looking for is the color that makes the stone feel right, the wood read the way it should, the upholstery sit comfortably in the palette, and the whole room feel connected. That’s why paint selections happen in conversation with everything else, not as a standalone decision.

We aren’t trying to find the most popular white, beige, green, or gray. We find the one that belongs in this room, with these materials, in this light.

There’s something about seeing decisions that have lived on paper for months finally take shape in the actual space.

Construction is where we get to walk through the details in real time, catch the things that need adjusting, and make sure what’s being built stays true to the design as the project moves forward.

A lot happens between the plans and the finished project. This part matters just as much.

The palette is the shorthand. The finished room is where it all comes together.

Color changes depending on what it’s paired with, how much of it is used, and whether it shows up in paint, upholstery, wood, stone, or something else entirely. The same tone can feel completely different once scale, texture, material, and natural light enter the equation.

That’s why we’re never choosing colors in isolation. We’re thinking about how the whole palette will live together in the space.

Color maxxing does not mean pulling every color you love into one room. It’s knowing which colors can live together, where each one should show up, and when the palette has enough.

We’re all for using more color, as long as everything has a reason to be there.
