“Lenore” for the Haven Gallery’s Poe group show. 8”x 8” acrylic on board. I had a wonderful time painting this piece. Edgar Allan Poe has been a major influence on me since childhood, particularly “The Raven” and “Tell Tale Heart”. His work is full of psychological tension, and atmosphere that balances beauty with the grotesque. I tried capture a little of that atmosphere with my own raven and a heart that’s a little bloody, but not too bloody.

Vin, 11”x14” gouache and acrylic, 2023. I have been very fortunate to work on illustrations for Mistborn, but this was my first personal work/ fan painting based on the Cosmere. The Final Empire was also the first book I came across from Brandon Sanderson. The dark setting and imagery drew me in immediately! #Vin #mistborn #cosmere #acrylicpainting by @kariartwork

I’m having a great time at Dragonsteel Nexus #dragonsteelnexus. I painted my fan art version of Kaladin last year and Leshwi for this year’s event. At 7pm I’ll be joining wonderful artist friends on the main stage to paint live over drawings Brandon Sanderson has made for us for @lightweaverfoundation Last year my collaboration sketch/painting was Adolin dining with a Chasmfiend #cosmere #kaladin #stormlightarchive #leshwi #fused by @kariartwork
