“This is not eliminating anything, and so, I’m going to support eliminating another committee.”

Huh? What’s that you say??? Bill Kennedy seems confused. 😵‍💫

Let’s start with his claim about a “crime prevention committee” and an “alumni committee.” FACT: The City of Billings has neither. 🙅

An accurate list of Boards & Commissions is available on the City’s website. As one can see from the superimposed image in the video, there is no such thing as a crime prevention committee nor an alumni committee. These are figments of Bill Kennedy’s imagination. 🤷‍♀️

The truth is that Bill Kennedy doesn’t value citizen engagement with the Billings Police Department any more than he values citizens engaging directly with City Council. Instead, he supports continually asking taxpayers to foot the bill, time and time again, yet he’s not willing to even consider exploring low-to-no cost solutions developed in a collaborative partnership between the BPD and citizens. 💸

According to Bill, it’s an “ineffective use of time” for BPD and Billings residents to put our heads together to explore better ways we can partner to solve crime and make the community safer. In fact, not a minute or two before the comments in this video, Mr. Kennedy openly mocks the Citizen Police Advisory Board’s ongoing and thoughtful discussions about how vacancy savings could best be used to shore up public safety. 🧐

In a community where domestic violence, human trafficking, gang activity, substance abuse and untreated mental health challenges run rampant, it seems Bill Kennedy would rather bully constituents into complacency than seriously consider what we have to offer up as solutions. 🧠

Enough is enough! It’s time for Bill Kennedy and his caustic clique of dinosaurs to exit the building. I hope you’ll join me next year as we VOTE THEM OUT! ⏰

For all the Yellowstone International Air Show fans, I present to you the birds-eye-view I was treated to 15 years ago on this day in the refueling bay of a United States Air Force KC-135 Tanker. Its mission: filling up the gas tanks of F-15 Fighter Jets in mid-air! NBD! 👀

As promised, the rest of the photos and videos from @bananaball @thefirefighters vs. @thepartyanimals on Thursday Night! My goodness, I am still absolutely bowled over with amazement! 🤩

Three generations of our family in attendance and EVERYONE had a blast! Bennett immediately fell love with @thepharty, and what respectable mother doesn’t love the Calendar Crew?!? 👨‍🚒😛🔥

Dehler Park in Billings, MT is the smallest venue EVER to officially host a Banana Ball game, unless you count the unannounced pop-up at a High School in TX earlier this year. I know my small, but mighty hometown crowd didn’t disappoint, and the teams and crew pulled out ALL the stops to give us the same experience they provide at @mlb stadiums and sold-out arenas that hold 81,000 WILD fans! 🥳

This was truly a night to remember and I’m certain, one that Bennett will never ever forget! 🫶

Bennett and I had an absolute blast at @bananaball last night! More pics and LOTS of video to come from the game, but I couldn’t resist giving y’all a sneak peek of some of the moments that made for one of the happiest boys in Billings last night. 🤩

@blakemorgan37 picked Bennett out of the crowd early on in the game and made him an “Honorary Firefighter,” giving him this cool BBFD hat to wear.🧑‍🚒

As luck would have it, the first autograph we got after the game came from B-Mo! Benny treated that signature like GOLD, keeping every other player from signing anywhere near the bill, literally putting his glove over it so they couldn’t touch it. 😂

Benny had @thepartyanimals sign his glove, which was packed with autographs by the end of the night. Mom enjoyed meeting “The Calendar Crew” (#IYKYK) and Benny even got to meet @tannerthomas_, who scored the game-winning Home Run! ⚾️

While we were originally rooting for Pharty and the Animal House, B is now a diehard fan of @thefirefighters for LIFE! Apologies to B-Mo’s teammates who were treated like second-class citizens while graciously signing hats, gloves, shirts and who knows what else. 😳

For some icing on the cake, this morning I got to tell my little lefty that his favorite player is a left-handed pitcher! How cool is that?! 🙌

If you get a chance to attend the sold-out games in Billings this weekend, or anywhere else in the future, just do it! This is a don’t miss event! 🥳 taken in Dehler Park by @kariboiter

This history lesson from @djmuggs_the_black_goat_ was too important to add it to my other post with all the highlights from the C@nn@b*s Leaders Conference at @7pointranchemigrant in the majestic Paradise Valley. There were many, MANY memorable moments, but the Fireside Chat with @jboogie.22 and Muggs was my favorite. Their words were inspiring at a time when many struggle to find hope. I feel so honored and humbled to have met and sat at the table with an award-winning recording artist of this caliber, but more so, a Down-to-Earth advocate for causes that I care about. Thanks again to @406lion and @thejessebarney for all of their work to make this possible!

The following is public testimony provided to Billings City Council, prior to its vote to dissolve the Citizen Police Advisory Board last night:

Thank you Mayor and Council,

My name is Kari Boiter. I live in Ward 3 and I am the Chair of the Citizen Police Advisory Board.

I remain puzzled as to how we got here; how this Board became a flash point of controversy. I do not understand why the City would be anything other than supportive of a Board that has fostered a culture of communication, collaboration and trust between the public and police.

But as you consider whether to keep the Citizen Police Advisory Board or dissolve it, I felt it was important to provide some basic facts.

13 people in 8 years.
That is the number of deadly police shootings in Billings between 2012 and 2020.

When the community first began discussing the formation of a CPAB, the City was 9th in the nation for deadly police shootings on a per capita basis.

In the 6 years since the CPAB Initiative was brought forward by CM Penny Ronning, that number has decreased significantly from 13 to 2.

Without any oversight authority whatsoever, and instead with the spirit of cooperation and partnership, this Board has worked together with the BPD to change the culture within our community and the police force.

The CPAB has been a small, but meaningful gesture of transparency and accountability in the wake of the deaths of:
-Edward Stump and Michael Brandon in 2012.
-Daniel Brawley and Jason Shaw in 2013.
-Richard Ramirez, John Marshall, and Kyle Killough in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
-Ryan Lowell, Frank Half, Jr. and Preston Bell in 2017.
-Zachary Hoven and Sean Hubbard in 2018.
-Coleman Stump in 2020.

These deaths were a catalyst for building a bridge between the public and police and proactively working to improve relations. As a result, there is now a direct line of communication between citizens and BPD leadership.

Curbing the number of deadly police shootings is not the only change brought about by the CPAB.

There were A LOT of once-in-a-lifetime moments this past week during my trip to @washingtondc, but nothing can ever top this serendipitous encounter. For those who’ve known me awhile, you probably already know what this photo means to me. For those who started following me in recent years, there was a time when I devoted every waking moment to seeking justice for medical c@nn@b*s caregivers who were prosecuted federally for following state laws. I’m proud to say that ALL of the people I fought for have since been released from prison and/or had their indictments dismissed, and it’s truly brought me great pleasure to watch quietly from the sidelines as they resume a sense of normalcy in their lives. 🥹

In this case, however, the Universe apparently had different plans. @sanduskyaaron and @leenie1b were flying out of DC on Tuesday. During a delay, Darlene checked Facebook, thinking about the time we met up in DC previously, and noticed I was there, too. She sent a message about us missing each other, so I called to say how bummed I was. When I mentioned that I was there for National Medical C@nn@b*s Day, they didn’t hesitate for a moment. Next thing I knew, their flight was rebooked and they were attending the event alongside me. WOW! ✨

As luck would have it, I had a tour scheduled the next day at the @ussupremecourt, and so, there we were. Each of our lives have come entirely full circle. I actually get goose bumps just writing about it. 🤯

To top it all off, Aaron and Darlene brought me to tears with the kindest, most thoughtful gesture I’ve received in a very long time. They gave me this incredible @kentstetson handbag from the Supreme Court Gift Shop. This absolutely perfect token of appreciation is symbolic of moving beyond our struggles together and into a brighter future. I have so much more to say about the trip, but this will have to do for now. I’m almost home and thoroughly exhausted, but I simply couldn’t keep this news to myself any longer. 🤩

Next up in my bag of tricks… I shall magically appear inside the @capitolhillclub, home turf for @republicans nationwide. The saying “politics makes strange bedfellows” has never been more true than in my experience with the health freedom movement. Last night, I was invited to a dinner at the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill in @washingtondc. Never did I ever imagine in my wildest dreams! 😆

Friends on the left, don’t hate me. We all know there are times when working across the aisle is a MUST, and c@nn@b*s policy is one of those. I’m not ashamed to work with whomever it takes to get the job done, and in fact, I’m PROUD to be able to do so. Finding common ground and mapping out a way to move forward together is my superpower! 🦸🏼‍♀️

You know I had to snag a couple souvenirs to remember this moment in history. Trust that if I could have walked out with the coffee mug, I would have in a heartbeat, but I want to be invited back one day. 🙏

My first stop in @washingtondc was a visit to @jesspurtellyoga for a “Sound to Ground” meditation with @oreggieglobal of @activepeaceyoga. What an absolute treat! Reggie took us on a journey through time and space, using the sounds of summer to calm, refresh, and energize us. I feel so blessed to have met this wonderful human nearly 10 years ago on Capitol Hill. He’s not only a spiritual guru and my dear friend, he’s the Godfather of my son. I couldn’t have chosen a wiser teacher and mentor for Bennett. 💞
