Singing the words of 12th Century mystic Ibn Arabi. SUFI POETRY IN @4dsound “My heart has become capable of every form: It is a pasture for gazelles and a monastery for Christian monks, and the pilgrim's Ka'ba, and the tablets of the Torah, And the book of the Quran. I follow the religion of Love: Whatever way love's camel takes, That is my religion, my faith.” It was a homecoming for me to work on this poem that resonated since I read it for the first time many years ago. We create the music together, but this specific part of this yet unreleased song was written by Iranian composer @kaveh.vares , the sample-based beat crafted by SENSE @worldofwils was interpreted by @stijnvanbeek25 on uilleann pipes, spatial electronica and @marcbaggiani on drums. To have Iraqi maestro Jamil al Asadi play qanun was nothing short of a gift. I hope it makes you feel . EGYPT was a dream. There are those who dare to trust in wild ideas, and those who take them further. Such is @indirapaganotto We performed released and unreleased tracks. And how could we do this at the Pyramids of Giza without a tribute to the fourth pyramid, El Sett, Umm Kulthum? Also a full circle moment to sing the poetry of Egyptian mystic Ibn al Farid for the first time in his homeland🩷 Thank you to everyone who was a part of this✨️ @exitfestival @starlight.festival @artcore_records The dress I wore is from @mohanadkojak94 @kojakstudio Styled by @badramajjar Glam by @dianaharby Henna @hand.of.fatima Photocredits: 1: Ali Maher Photography 2 - 6: @_eldarwesh #exitfestival #starlight #elkarima #indirapaganotto #egypt by @karimaelfillali

Met the magical @indirapaganotto by chance in a boutique. We talked about music. Shared an idea... Fast forward a few weeks. Amsterdam. The darkest days of the year, just before the winter solstice. I imagined a melody, looked for a poem, opened a book by Ibn al-Farid - the great 13th-century Sufi poet - and this was the first poem I read. Knew I didn't want to look any further. Recorded a vocal demo at a home, with cat Joanie as my only audience. Those demo vocals ended up becoming the final recording you are hearing. From a centuries-old poem to a joint @artcore_records × @tomorrowland_music release... and to stages across the world. Tarab & techno. A love story. Feels like DREAM. 🖤 Available on all platforms. If you'd like to hear the full journey, the Extended version is on @beatport ! #DREAM #IndiraPaganotto #ElKarima #ibnfarid #tomorrowland by @karimaelfillali

A very experimental short film 🌙 Stairway to Music #11 Stairway to Music is an online compilation by @hetmuziek , featuring gems from the archive alongside newly commissioned compositions. A musical and cinematic exploration recorded at unique locations in the Netherlands (and, in this case, Belgium), with a staircase appearing in every film. This eleventh Stairway to Music unfolds on the steps of the concrete open-air theatre of De Brug van Vroenhoven. In a mind-bending spectacle of music, we follow a trombonist preparing for a performance—but are we trapped in his fever dream, or is this spectacle reality? Between waking and sleeping, the music moves between fragments of Ligeti's Poème Symphonique, an interpretation of Nam June Paik's One, and an improvisation on a poem by Ibn Arabi. Ligeti's metronomes embody the musician's tension; Nam June Paik's work unfolds as a slow, inevitable build-up toward the moment of entry. The voice becomes a counterweight, drawing the musical threads together as the trombonist searches for a place to begin. The poem by Ibn Arabi that I improvised with: When they departed, endurance and patience departed. The departed although they were dwelling in the core of my heart. I said to the wind "Go!" Go, and overtake them! For they are biding in the shade of the grove. And bear to them a greeting from a sorrowful man in whose heart are sorrows because he is separated from his people.
