When your birthday girl asks for a crab boil, you make it happen.

As a Maryland girl, I couldn’t just send a regular invitation. I had to put my own creative spin on it! I designed a custom, all-pink Old Bay-inspired invite.

I love dreaming up little details that make celebrations feel extra special, and creating this invitation was just as much fun as planning the dinner itself. Here’s to celebrating my sweet girl turning 10 with lots of crab, laughter, and memories we’ll never forget.

Who says you have to go out for happy hour?

we brought date night home and escaped to the garden. Just good food, a little champagne, and time together after a busy day.

On the menu:
Champagne
Charcuterie plates
Crispy chicken over a fresh basil sauce
Loaded baked potato platter
Classic Caesar salad
Slow-roasted confit tomatoes

The menu was inspired by the garden itself. We served vanilla cupcakes topped with piped buttercream flowers, chocolate “mud” cupcakes decorated with edible flowers, pickled deviled eggs, roasted pork bites with homemade peach basil tomato jam, red wine pomegranate meatballs, a colorful crudité platter with charred scallion ranch, a beautiful charcuterie board, and toasted focaccia topped with basil whipped ricotta and fresh tomatoes.

Behind the bar, guests could choose between a refreshing hibiscus margarita or lavender lemonade and both were a huge hit throughout the evening.

One of my favorite touches was Greg displaying family photos along the garden fence. It transformed the space into something even more personal, reminding us that this garden isn’t just about beautiful plants it’s about the memories we’ll continue making here together.

To make sure I could actually enjoy the evening, I hired a bartender and a dishwasher one of the best decisions I made. It allowed me to spend more time with our guests instead of worrying about every little detail. I also couldn’t have pulled it all together without my family. My sister, my mom, and my sister’s boyfriend all jumped in to help prepare the food, and I’m so thankful for them. I’m so grateful we made time to celebrate this milestone.

I love celebrating my husband and the incredible projects he pours his heart into. His vision, creativity, and hard work continue to make our home such a special place, and he deserves every bit of recognition. This garden is complete, but I have a feeling it’s just the beginning. I can’t wait to continue opening our home, bringing people together, and finding new reasons to celebrate. by @karin_thegreat

Greg, job well done! The yard looks absolutely wonderful it’s hard to believe this is the same space. It only took a few short months to completely transform it and now it’s one of my favorite places to be. I love enjoying dinner out in the garden now …I used to never spend any time out there.

I can’t wait to see what project we tackle next! I love this old home, but wow, it sure knows how to keep us busy. Another project down… onto the next!
