Schiaparelli has always been one of those fashion houses that means so much to me. Not simply as a brand, but as a source of inspiration for anyone fascinated by art, creativity and the way different forms of expression can transform one another.

What fascinates me most is Schiaparelli’s relationship with Surrealism. Elsa Schiaparelli was a true pioneer in bringing art and fashion together, most famously through her collaboration with Salvador Dalí.

When Surrealism exists in a painting, we can look at it, interpret it and let our imagination complete the story. But when it becomes clothing, the experience feels almost physical. You can see it, touch it, walk around it and experience it from different angles. The light, movement and the person wearing it can completely change how you perceive it.

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the exhibition at the V&A. But the section dedicated to Daniel Roseberry’s work was something else entirely.

I was so moved by the beauty, craftsmanship and imagination that I actually started crying.

For me, Roseberry’s work is a perfect example of evolution. Development does not always mean progress, but with Schiaparelli I see a house that has preserved its DNA while evolving into something incredibly contemporary, bold and powerful.

I would recommend this exhibition to everyone.

And especially to anyone who is just starting out in photography.

I am a beginner photographer myself, and I know how easy it is to think: I need the right location, better equipment, perfect light…

And then we spend so much time preparing that we forget to create.

So here is my little reminder, first of all to myself:

Don’t wait.

Go and photograph.

Photograph on the street. In museums. At exhibitions. Photograph whatever makes you feel something.

You don’t need perfect conditions to begin. You simply need to begin.

And thank you to the House of Schiaparelli for giving people the opportunity to experience this work in real life. I truly believe that access to this kind of art and craftsmanship is culturally important.

Every great creative journey starts somewhere small.

Don’t underestimate the beginning.

It’s been a long time since I last posted something here, and so much has changed in my life since then.

The biggest change is that I finally decided to choose myself and follow what I genuinely feel passionate about.

I’ve always felt deeply connected to people and art, and I’ve always wanted to be part of the creative world. For me, art is a space where you can explore yourself, express what you feel, and truly unlock your potential as a creator.

And so, I’ve decided to start my journey as a photographer.

I’m sharing this post first and foremost for myself. To take that first step the one that is often the hardest, especially when you’re constantly afraid of putting yourself out there, being seen, and allowing yourself to truly express who you are.

But the first step is always the most important one.

So I’m leaving this post here as a beginning. A starting point for a new chapter.

I promise myself that I will keep photographing, keep learning, keep creating, and keep sharing it here.

This work is still far from the result I envision for myself and from the kind of work I ultimately want to create. But this is my first professional shoot, and I want to remember this moment and leave it here.

And a special thank you to the people who have always stayed by my side, believed in me, supported me, and helped me along the way. You know who you are, and I’m incredibly grateful to have you in my life. 🤍

Here’s to the beginning. taken in London, United Kingdom by @karine_machine
