Round here...My art is officially on the wall, and I am officially in my new studio. ❤️🎨 It still feels a little like a daydream. I’m still moving in, still making the space mine, but seeing my work hanging there made it all feel real.

One artist who has inspired me greatly is Cy Twombly. I’ve always been drawn to the freedom, movement, and emotion in his work—and I love this little piece of his story: while serving in the U.S. Army as a cryptologist in the 1950s, Twombly experimented with drawing in the dark. It became part of his exploration of creating from instinct and movement rather than simply drawing what the eye could see.

There’s something about that idea that really speaks to me right now: create without overthinking, trust the movement, and let the work become what it wants to become.

It feels especially fitting as I begin this new chapter. ❤️ by @karissaawinters

It’s nothing short of a miracle that I’m here. Walking and smiling. From multiple stays in the ICU, to being confined to a chair, to taking my first steps with a walker and so much more… to this moment.

Blessed and thankful don’t even begin to describe what I feel.

A little wind in my hair, moonlight on my face, and a whole new appreciation for the life unfolding in front of me.

There’s something beautiful about finding your way back to yourself, especially when you once wondered if you ever would.

Maybe that’s the beauty of it all. Not just getting your life back, but seeing it through entirely different eyes. 🤍 by @karissaawinters

Blood thinners and compression socks for the win! ✈️🎉🤎

My hematologist gave me the green light to travel, so off to Santa Fe I went!

There’s something about Santa Fe that makes you slow down long enough to really notice your own life. And this trip meant more to me than I could ever put into words.

Just a few weeks ago, I couldn’t have imagined myself standing here. Traveling. Getting dressed up. Exploring a beautiful city. Laughing with friends. Simply feeling a little more like me again.

One of the most emotional moments of the trip was visiting a gallery featuring one of my favorite artists, Georgia O’Keeffe. I stood there surrounded by art and started crying. Not because I was sad, but because there was a time, not that long ago, when I genuinely didn’t know if I would ever get to experience this trip. Or moments like this again.

And there I was. Alive. Standing in a beautiful gallery, looking at art I love, in a city I adore. Taking it all in with a heart so full of gratitude that the tears just came.

It’s amazing how differently you see the world when you’ve come so close to losing your place in it.

Life can change in an instant. Sometimes in ways that break you open, and sometimes in ways that slowly, quietly put you back together.

The things that once seemed ordinary now feel extraordinary.

And maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts to come out of everything I’ve been through. Not that I would ever wish for the experience, but that I now understand, in a way I never fully did before, just how precious it is to simply be here.

I loved getting to share this trip with @bwinters40 and so many wonderful people. My amazing friend Rachel @mom_livingherbestlife_ even came into town to spend time with me, which made it that much sweeter. ❤️

Santa Fe, thank you for the beauty, the art, the laughter, the friendships, and the reminder that there is still so much life left to live.

I’m not quite back to where I was before, but I’m here. I’m healing. I’m creating new memories. And I’m finding my way back to myself, one beautiful moment at a time.

I was today years old when I realized I was featured in @Variety with Ted Lasso. 😂👏

I was bringing the copy to my new art studio and finally had a chance to flip through it when I spotted it. Such a random little nugget that completely brightened my day.

During my recovery from surgery, a blood clot, emergency surgery, blood transfusions, and everything that came with it, I found Ted Lasso at a time when I really needed some laughs, hope, and a reminder to keep believing. ❤️ It gave my mind somewhere else to go during some really difficult days, and I’d like to think a tiny piece of my comeback belongs to the positivity that show gave me.

TV and movies can be powerful like that. They can make someone laugh when they’re scared, give them hope when they need it, or simply help them escape for a little while. It’s one of the reasons I started the @vivatexasfilmfestival all those years ago. ❤️

Also I have to mention...the casting and acting in this show are some of the best I've seen! 👏🎉

And apparently people keep telling me I’m basically the female Ted Lasso…

Big optimism? Check.
Cheering people on like it’s my job? Check.
Turning life lessons into questionable metaphors? Absolutely. 😂

All I’m missing is the mustache…

Although, in certain lighting, even that’s debatable. 💁🏻‍♀️🤣

Now be a goldfish and forget I ever told you about my mustache hairs. 🐠😂❤️👏
