I’ve been teaching adults classical ballet now for roughly 13 years through a mixture of group classes, 1:1 coaching, ballet retreats, corporate events and private professional contracts. I’ve created wedding dances, helped prepare actors for movies and TV roles, coached famous singers on choreography ahead of world tours and rehabbed pro athletes back from injury. I can (and still do) teach children and professional dancers also, but my favourite people to teach are the ones who learn ballet from a place of pure joy and love, with no ‘career’ strings attached!
These people come to class weekly because they are committed to the long game and what learning ballet does to improve their lives, how moving their bodies to music lifts their mood and sets free emotions that would perhaps otherwise remain stuck, and to work towards accomplishing challenging goals which promote self development and confidence. I’ve known ballet to actually save peoples lives, including my own at times. I’ve taught people with terminal illnesses who wish to dance until their final day, people in the depths of grief after losing children or spouses, those who’ve suffered life altering injuries who have told me ballet contributed to their healing. And to have them trust me with such a journey, to guide them back towards the best versions of themselves and inspire them to keep showing up is one of my own greatest accomplishments. I become so invested in their lives I can’t help but feel overwhelmed when I think of how far they’ve all come from where they started . . .
Ballet can be brutal, who in their right mind would want to learn something so difficult simply for fun?! Us! Those with a shared passion for this incredibly beautiful art form. And without you I wouldn’t be able to share my knowledge and love so a huge thank you from the bottom of my ❤️

Maldives 2024 🇲🇻🩰😎🥂🩵
Once again, simply impossible to squeeze what feels like a lifetime’s worth of incredible moments into just 90 seconds . . .
But here it is, my second time @avanimaldives as visiting practitioner and artist in residence last month. I haven’t enough words to describe the experience besides it’s one that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. The combined forces that brought this into existence really outdid themselves! It’s been a long time since I’ve felt such freedom not just in my work but within myself. I believe this special resort and its people enable this energy and for that, I am so grateful 🙏🏻
To have all my passions together in one place at the same time was such divine alignment: ballet, music, art, dance, family, friends, the ocean, saying yes to adventures, good wine (very important 😁) . . .
Definitely re-entered my rockstar era!
I can’t thank @elisagrimaldi @juddrabbidge @agarwal.rithik & @kate.siva enough for making this happen beyond my wildest imaginations, @lottie.wright for being my wingwoman and the best auntie to Allegra and of course the wonderful @carlineelumba for taking such care of my daughter while I was working ❤️❤️❤️

On Monday 14th September I graduated from @royalacademyofdance with a Distinction in the Professional Dancer’s Graduate Teaching Diploma alongside my wonderfully talented and inspiring cohort.

It’s because of this diploma that I am where I am now, working @elmhurstballetschool which was my goal when I first moved to Birmingham 4 years ago.
This achievement, alongside attaining a Distinction in the PDGTD whilst working full time and single parenthood to a child with additional needs was by no means easy but was worth each and every late night study, every pre-dawn essay writing session, endless schemes of work, research and 7-day working weeks for almost a year . . .
I am proud to set an example of determination, perseverance and self-belief to my daughter, my students and anyone else who’s still chasing their dreams in adulthood!👩🏼‍🎓🩰🥂

It felt particularly poignant to have been awarded this qualification with my former @royalballetschool classmate @alexander_campbell1 in the position of Artistic Director of the RAD ❤️
