The song is based on 2 Chronicles 20, where King Jehoshaphat faced a huge army and God told him to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. God instructed him to send the singers and musicians ahead of the army, praising God with the words “Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” As they did, God caused confusion among the enemies and they turned on each other. The Israelites did not have to fight, they only had to worship.
This song teaches me that the best way to fight my battles is to praise God and trust Him to fight for me. It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by His presence, His power, and His love. He is my rock, my refuge, and my victory. This is how I fight my battles.
What about you? Have you heard this song? How does it speak to you? Let me know in the comments. #surrounded #fightmybattles #bethelmusic #karijobe #worship #praise #godisgood by @karl_u_
