Thank you, friends and neighbors of Senate District 50.

I am deeply humbled and honored to have earned your support in this important election, at this consequential moment for our community, our state, and our country.

You shared your perspectives, your concerns, your hopes for a better future for every person in this community. I am honored by that trust, and I promise to work hard every day to serve Senate District 50 and our state.

Thank you especially to Nelly Korman, John McClellan, and Amal Ibrahim for running strong, spirited campaigns and for serving our community, our state, and our democracy with conviction. I can't wait to sit down with each of you for coffee.

And to my village:

To the leaders who endorsed or advised me throughout this campaign – especially Heather, Zach, Paul, Julie, Jim, Tim, Ross, and Rod – thank you for your guidance.

To the campaign leaders and interns who gave so much of your spring and summer to this work – especially Alex, Ketki, Lydia, Marit, Emma, and McKenna – thank you for your energy and your young leadership.

To the volunteers who knocked doors, made calls, and carried our message – thank you for your time and your talent.

To my beloved friends, from childhood, from college, from life – thank you for believing in me and for always showing up.

To Jenn, Mary, Sarah, Jen, Darryl, and Lai – each of you went above and beyond. Your lives and loyalty always inspire. I am so grateful for each of you.

To Jennifer Lynn – your talent never ceases to amaze me, and neither do you. Thank you for being my best friend and my creative partner.

To my family – Mom (my first and forever cheerleader), Auntie Jan and Uncle Jim, my sisters, my cousins, my nieces, nephews, and in-laws – thank you for a lifetime of unconditional support and for inspiring me every day. Dad, I promise to lead as you lived, with conviction, compassion, and courage.

And finally: To Gary, Grace, Isabella, and Kaija June, I adore and love you “even more.” We answered this calling as a family, and as a family, we will meet every challenge, every opportunity, and every calling still to come.

I’ve always worked hard to earn an “A.”

This one means more than the satisfaction of a top grade. Knowing that an organization dedicated to preventing gun violence in our state considers me an ally? Well, that fills me with joy, purpose, and resolve.

Karla is an award–winning journalist, an adjunct professor, and a devoted advocate for families navigating Alzheimer’s disease. She has spent her career fighting for the people in her community when it comes to the critical issues they are facing and supporting underserved families across Minnesota.

She wants to continue doing this work at a state level by defending fundamental rights, supporting fully funded public education, and championing policies that support our elders, caregivers, and families.

I truly believe we have more in common than we do different. We share so many values: we all want safety, opportunity, and belonging for ourselves and our children.
