Eighteen years ago, when I was just sixteen, my whole world changed forever. I was scared, unsure, and still trying to figure out who I was but then you came into my life, and suddenly I had a reason to be strong. From the moment I held you, I knew I would do whatever it took to give you love, safety, and a future filled with possibility.

We grew up together, you and I. I wasn’t a perfect mom, but I gave you every piece of my heart. There were times when life was hard, times when I wondered if I was doing enough but then I’d look at you, your smile, your laughter, your little arms wrapped around me, and I knew we were going to be okay. You were my reason to push through, my reason to fight, my reason to believe that brighter days were ahead.

And now here you are 18 years old, standing on the edge of adulthood. My baby girl is a woman. You are everything I prayed you would be and so much more: strong, kind, beautiful, determined, and full of light. I am endlessly proud of the person you are becoming, and I’m humbled that I got to walk this journey with you.

As you step into this new chapter, I want you to always carry this truth with you: you were my greatest blessing at 16, and you are still my greatest blessing today. Life won’t always be easy, but you already have everything it takes inside you strength, wisdom, and a heart full of love. Never doubt your worth. Never forget that you are capable of incredible things.

Thank you, my love, for choosing me as your mom in this life. You saved me in ways you’ll never fully know. No matter how old you get, you will always be my baby, my first love, my heart.

Happy 18th birthday, my precious girl. I love you more than words will ever be able to say.
