Overjoyed to say that I have accepted a placement in Madrid, Spain for the 2019-2020 Spanish school year. I will be living, writing, and working as a language assistant and will be moving to Madrid in September. After the growth, work, and change experienced in the past year living abroad, I am thrilled, gracious, and extremely excited to continue this personal movement in the Spanish capital for (at least!) another year. Thus, the journey continues.

Baltimore, I said it then, I said it yesterday, and I’m saying it now: I LOVE YOU. Congratulations to @arwolfe and Mike on their absolutely magical wedding which I’m so happy to have been here for, and thanks to @aliciamkenworthy for bringing that Patmos/DC energy north as well on this lovely weekend. It’s made me remember the power of hope and the ability to grow through life’s toughest movements, because this weekend was ALL the good things. When I took this first picture, on April 16th, 2020, I was about to leave the place that made me feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.
.
On April 17th, 2020, I flew home from one part of my life with my most important possessions during a novel pandemic with the ultimate fear of having lost something irreplaceable.
.
This past September, I came back to this city after a hellish stretch unlike any other, during the same pandemic, after a year and a half that felt like a decade or more.
.
And now for the awesome part: April 17th, 2022, I’m just sitting here in my apartment in Madrid KNOWING I’LL BE HERE THROUGH JUNE 2023 AND HOPEFULLY BEYOND. Despite the hardship of the world, I am in total love with this city and to be here once again through difficult times makes the most sense because if there’s one thing this place and I share, it’s resiliency. Spain will be my home for the fourth academic year in 2022-2023, and Madrid is my city in a way unlike any other. The past four months have taught me more about where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going than I ever thought possible. The places. The possibilities. The people. Now, as I’m halfway through this year of working, writing, and learning, I’m both tremendously thankful for all that’s happened and very excited for what the next four months hold.

Hitting five different countries and six different cities in five weeks was ambitious, exhausting, but absolutely spectacular in ways both expected and wildly unpredictable - so much gratitude and love for the chance to live these experiences with these individuals. When I was a senior in high school, I had to do a school project where I had to plan a fake trip to anywhere in the world.
