One thing we really wanted to do this year was dive in Monterey.

Our first attempt was a lot of fun, but the visibility wasn’t great. Even so, getting our first glimpse of the kelp forest was enough to make us want to come back. So after weeks of watching the reports, we finally found a good day and made the drive.

And it was worth it.

Seeing the kelp forest with some decent visibility made the experience even more incredible. The light filtering through the kelp and the colors below the surface are unlike anything I’ve seen before. It’s hard to describe just how beautiful this underwater world is.

It’s amazing that something this special is only a few hours from home, and we definitely won’t be waiting long to come back.
