It's been a month since I arrived in Peru. And I still feel so much appreciation. Sometimes I look at the streets and just think to myself "I can't believe I'm actually here. I'm in Peru."

Tengo ganas de vomitar.

No estaba lista para eso. Aunque estaba segura de que estaba lista. ¿Cómo que no? Lo estaba planeando desde hace años. Deseándolo, investigándolo, hablándolo, soñándolo. Compré mi ticket a Peru hace meses. Eran meses hasta que me tuviera que ir. 4 meses. 3 meses. 2 meses. 1 mes. 2 semanas. 1 día. ¿Qué? Aquí estoy. En el bús a Barcelona. Dejando València. València.

El lugar que mi dio una casa los últimos casi 3 años. A veces se siente como si solo fuera ayer que llegué en aquella Nochevieja. La Nochevieja que jamás olvidaré. Mi primera noche en València. Y ahora pasó mi último. ¡Qué raro! Me faltan las palabras y la gente que me conoce sabe que eso casi nunca pasa. Dos amigos me acompañan a la estación. Antes fuimos a comer. Charlamos un montón como siempre. No lo esperaba para nada pero cuando el momento de despedirse llegó, de repente entraron las lágrimas. No me puedo acordar de un momento en el que sentí lo que sentio ahora. Como no puedo respirar bien. Como mi corazón se acelera. Tengo una noche más en España, pero València ya está detrás de mi. Qué fuerte se siente, solo pocas personas podrían entenderlo. Siempre voy a estar agradecida por todo lo que había encontrado aquí. Gracias España, gracias València, gracias a la gente que me acompañó en esta aventura. Es la hora de irse. La próxima aventura me está esperando.

Goodbye Austria and happy birthday! What a weird combination! Initially, I wanted to fly out on Friday, but the flight today was way cheaper. At first, I didn't want to fly on my birthday, but then I thought, why not? How fitting to be able to say my exact age if somebody asks me how old I was when I left my home country.

Home? It doesn't feel like that anymore.

The first time I started to think about what home really means was when I lived in Australia, and even more so after I left Australia. People would ask me where I was from, and I struggled to answer because both countries felt like home.

Now it's even more difficult. In Spain, I made such meaningful connections, and I spent even more time there. València feels way more like home than Austria. I realised that especially on my most recent visit. It was the first time in my life I didn't even want to speak German anymore. My mother tongue. The Spanish language is kinder and carries more love.

I think what I learnt the most is that home is not a place. People are what makes you feel at home. The feeling of being loved. People who welcome you. People who not only love you for who you are but embrace your unique character traits that others would judge. People who are happy to see you. People who celebrate your wins and mourn your losses. If you have found people like that, you have found a home.

It breaks my heart to leave that behind, and at the same time, I know I'll find more of these people. More homes.

It's been seven months since my last roadtrip, exploring many cities and places in Spain. Now I'm a month away from my next trip. Today in one month I'll be in Peru, starting my biggest adventure yet. Can't wait!

Hiking in the mountains.
I think the best thing Austria has to offer is its beautiful nature.

One month passed by, three more weeks to go. Every day I ask myself: Will this be the last time I'm here? The last time I see this person? I can't know the answer to these questions, but what I know for sure is that even though it might not be the last time, it'll definitely be a long time before I'd come back. This puts me in a unique position: Truly enjoying every moment to the best of my abilities has become my priority. I know there are some people I probably never see again. I could be sad about it or appreciate the time I have with them. I choose the latter.

My first ever night dive was incredible! I've been wanting to do this for a long time now and finally it happened. Diving is such a beautiful thing, you only live in the moment and feel complete peace with no sounds other than the breath you take. Recently in Gandía. Two days ago I moved back to Valencia, although I'm not sure you could say move, because next week I'll be leaving Valencia as well. It's weird to think about the journey that lays ahead of me. 5 months I lived in Gandía and it looks like I won't be living this long in any place any time soon. I'm gonna miss living so close to the beach but I'm certain that I won't be far from the ocean for long. I had such a great time in Gandía and can say that if I would like to stay in Spain I would definitely settle down there for a while. But looks like settling is outside of my abilities. Grateful for the connections I made in Gandía. Hopefully we'll meet again!

For about 10 years, Latin America has been on my mind.

What started as a simple thought slowly turned into a dream. Over the years, that dream survived changed plans, unexpected detours, and even a global pandemic. Instead of giving up on it, I took a longer route: moving to Spain, learning Spanish, building a life there, and preparing myself for a journey that always felt bigger than just travelling.

The funny thing is that many people think there must be a specific reason why I'm doing this now. In reality, I've been talking about it, planning it, dreaming about it, and working towards it for years.

Now, after all this time, it's finally happening.

These screenshots, messages, and memories tell part of that story. Some of them are from just a few days ago. Others are more than seven years old. Looking back at them made me realise just how long this dream has been travelling with me.
