My absolute musts

1. Prep
Do a little quickie blowout around the hair line and crown with a volumizing mousse & round brush. Prior to any detail work. This will help shift stubborn cowlicks and lock in any curling or back combing you plan to do.

2. A Crimper
I know I know, spooky. This has changed the game for me. I will use a mini crimper in areas that are being overlapped with pretty curled hair. I’m using this tool ONLY in the interior of the shape. This gives an unmatched amount of fullness and texture that fine hair must have for updos. Perfect before braiding or to even create your own internal pin cushion.

3. Extensions
Don’t shoot the messenger. I know they are a whole process. However, in order to achieve certain looks they are a MUST. Length and fullness?? Extensions. Dimension and density without coloring?? Extensions.

4. Volumizing powder
My all time fav powder product is the swept up by @oribe. It’s the most control I’ve ever had in a powder form. This is going to create fullness and frothyness. I use this mainly at the roots as well as any pieces I plan to twist and pull for texture. Great for giving the fringe pony tail pieces height so they don’t fall flat on the face throughout the day.

5. Fillers
The mesh donuts you can buy online or at the supply store? Cut those suckers up and use little square cuts outs as fillers in your up styles. I’ll take 2 bobbies a clear elastic and anchor them into ponytails, the nape of the neck, or the center of a bun to build foundational structure and added fullness.

Formula anyone?? Below I shared the process on how I got to the finished product. How Gorg? 💌

We started with quite a dark base color naturally, I’d say around a level 3-4.

Babylights packed fairly close together.
I always start the hairline with strong and 10vol 1:1 to ensure those hairs do not become compromised. You have much more control over the hair color when the structural integrity is intact.

As I moved up to the middle part section and crown I remixed my lightener with fresh powder and 20vol 1:1
This helps lift the hair at a similar rate of speed.

Her hair lifted to roughly a 9g-10g swatch. I knew warmth was more than likely going to be a hurdle.

I glossed the hair globally with 9ba/8bp/8na 7vol 2:1 for 25min
Additionally we did a root melt with 7mb/7na/8bp 7vol 2:1 20 min

The styling look was done with @oribe everything

Royal blowout for 450° of thermal protection, a speed in the blow dry process, softness & abundant shine.

Supershine light for an additional layer of thermal protection and loads of moisture with a light weight feel.

Gel serum for seal, hold, and humidity protection. This gel has the hold of a gel with the softness of a serum. Unlike a sticky hard gel form.
