POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
On the 10th of September, 2026, my photograph, Checkmate on the Lagoon, was displayed at the High Commissioner’s Banquet at Mansion House in London, following its selection as the Hope and Resilience Category Winner , selected by all eight judges from entries representing all 51 of the 56 Commonwealth countries. For me, this photograph speaks to hope, resilience and possibility. To see an image made in Lagos displayed at such a significant gathering in London was a deeply meaningful moment for me. I’m also honoured that the winning work will be exhibited at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda this November. My sincere gratitude to the Royal Commonwealth Society and the judges for recognizing this work, and to everyone who continues to create opportunities for stories and photographs from places like mine to be seen. Above all , I thank the Lord for this wonderful gift.

The Animal as an Individual - olive baboon (Papio anubis)

Animals have always fascinated me. Despite our shared world, they live very different lives—lives I don’t think we will ever get to fully comprehend. This mystery is partly what drives my curiosity.

I will be spending a good portion of my life (maybe even all of what is left) trying to understand what little they show us through photographs. I hope that these images will speak for themselves, so I don’t belittle them with my own explanation.

These images will form the basis for upcoming books following the same title:
“Kashope Faje: An artistic inquiry into animal life”

I turn 31 today to the glory of the only true Living God (Yahweh) - I am living proof that things can change , that the saving gift of Grace really stays. I’m not perfect , don’t always get it right but I’d rather walk by faith in Yahweh and not by my foolish sight.

I’m young in some people’s books but to others I’m old. Whichever category works for you , I beseech you to hear me out.

This world is not our own , this world isn’t all that there is. This world is broken and all that is it in is passing. So I beg you to put your hope in the Christ The Redeemer because in the end he will stand on the earth to be a savior to some and a judge to many. He is coming with a sword in his hand , the commander of the Lord’s armies. He is our only hope. Please repent and believe in his name and you will be saved.

If you want to wish me a happy birthday just read the article linked in my bio.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous But the Lord delivers him from them all.

Kashope Faje (@kashfaje) is a Nigerian photographer and visual artist whose work explores people, culture, and contemporary life through a distinctively cinematic style. His practice spans documentary, portraiture, and cultural and commercial photography, with a particular interest in finding extraordinary visual possibilities within everyday moments.

Since developing his professional practice in 2019, Kashope has worked with leading brands including Pepsi, Colgate, and Guinness, alongside collaborations with Theirworld and UK Aid, while contributing to cultural and documentary projects such as THE HERDS and Fela: Afrobeat Rebellion. His photographs have appeared in Vogue, The Guardian, UCL, and CNN.

In 2026, Kashope was named the Hope & Resilience Category Winner of the Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, for his photograph “Checkmate on the Lagoon.” The winning work was displayed at the High Commissioners’ Banquet at Mansion House in London and will be exhibited at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda in November.

His work was also selected for Bottling Memories, an exhibition presented by the Nigerian Bottling Company as part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations in Abuja, featuring photographs centred on football and Coca-Cola.

For Kashope, the work is guided by a daily pursuit of doing good rather than chasing future greatness. As Charles Spurgeon put it, “We will not pine to be great, but we will be eager to be good” — a philosophy Kashope carries into both his personal life and his craft, choosing consistency and honest work over the pull of fame or acclaim.

Photography is a fragile attempt to carry the intangible.

My upcoming book - ‘Places I’ve Been, People I’ve Seen’ is a collection of such fragments: places I have travelled through, people I have encountered, and moments that, for one reason or another, stayed with me.

A photographic exploration of the term “waiting” or “to wait”

The human experience is a long life of waiting , waiting to be born , waiting for a train , for a friend , for some good news - whether we consciously realize this or not - we’re always waiting.

I believe all the waiting plays a role of some kind in building our patience, through waiting we learn that eventually , things arrive.

It is good to enjoy waiting and it best to learn this patience in our youth. by @kashfaje
