Here, a grandfather is carefully dressed by his family — not forgotten, but still part of their lives.

Yessss 🙌🌊

Is this place even real? 😍

In the middle of the ocean, surrounded by absolutely nothing… just turquoise water, tiny islands and the incredible Bajau people. 🛖🌴

This is one of those places that doesn’t feel real until you’re actually standing there.

Far away from the usual tourist routes. No crowds. No luxury resorts. Just life on the water, exactly as it has been lived for generations.

The Bajau are known as the “Sea Nomads” — people whose lives and culture are deeply connected to the ocean. 🌊

And honestly… this was one of those moments when I just stopped and thought:

How is this actually my life right now? 🥹

MA’NENE 🖤
A tradition unlike anything I had ever seen.

In Tana Toraja, the dead are not forgotten.

During Ma’nene, families honour their loved ones by bringing them out, carefully cleaning them and changing their clothes.

Because here…

Death is not the end.

It is still a part of life,
a part of family,
and a way of keeping those they love close. ❤️

Funeral ceremonies can last for days, bringing together family and the whole community to honour the person who has passed.

I witnessed traditions that were completely new to me — emotional, powerful and deeply connected to family and culture.

Meet the Bajau people of Sulawesi — often known as the “Sea Nomads”.

For generations, the ocean has been their home, their livelihood and their way of life. Living on boats and stilt houses above the water, they have a unique connection with the sea that is difficult to put into words.

Seeing their world with my own eyes was one of those moments that stays with you forever. ❤️
