Never become so accomplished that you stop investing in your own growth.

It’s easy to believe that experience is enough. You’ve put in the work. You’ve made the tough decisions. You’ve solved difficult problems.

One of the biggest lessons I took away from completing the Owner-Manager Programme at @lbsnigeria is that no matter how much you’ve achieved, there’s always another level of growth waiting for those who are willing to remain students.

The truth is, investing in yourself isn’t a luxury. It’s part of the responsibility that comes with leading people, building businesses, and making meaningful impact.

We often talk about the housing deficit in Nigeria, but perhaps the bigger challenge is how we think about housing in the first place.

When real estate becomes only a transaction, we risk overlooking its true value. A home is more than a structure. It is security. It is dignity. It is opportunity. It is the foundation upon which families build their future.

The projects we choose to develop today will shape the stories that generations after us inherit. That is why every decision in real estate should begin with people, not profit. Because when you create lasting value for people, sustainable success follows.

Legacy is not measured by the number of properties you own. It is measured by the number of lives your work has impacted.

October is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it is a reminder that even the people everyone depends on need to be cared for, too.

As a business leader, I have come to understand that the pressure of leadership goes beyond targets, numbers, and results. You carry the expectations of people who believe in your vision, the responsibility of keeping the business going, and the weight of making difficult decisions, even when things are not going according to plan.

Sometimes, in trying to make sure everyone else is okay, you forget to ask yourself the same question.

I have experienced seasons when the weight of these responsibilities began to affect my mental health. As someone who genuinely wants to see others grow and win, I had to learn that being there for people should not mean neglecting myself.

One of the most important lessons I have learnt is that a business going through a difficult season does not make me a failure as a person.

I had to pause, reflect, reassess my decisions, and give myself permission to be human.

I still believe in helping others succeed, but I now understand that my well-being matters, too.

Leadership comes with responsibilities, but we must be conscious of the toll those responsibilities can take on us. Sometimes, the strength to keep going begins with recognising that we, too, need care, rest, and room to breathe.

Today, on the International Day of the Girl Child, we are reminded of the importance of protecting girls’ rights, amplifying their voices, and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

This year’s global theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights!”, calls on us to do more than celebrate girls. We must protect them, invest in their education, and ensure they have the freedom to dream, lead, and shape their futures.

As a woman in the real estate industry, I understand the importance of representation, access, and having a seat at the table. Every girl deserves the opportunity to grow into a woman who can confidently occupy spaces, make decisions, and contribute meaningfully to society.
