Close ups from yesterdays play. I love the lushness of this. It has a romantic feel that I didn’t set out for but there are always a surprise in the making. This is quite a small piece so next step is to see how it scales up. Still haven’t found a title….Enchanted Garden ? #florabunda#floatingartworks#moderncontemporaryart#mixedmediaartist#playingwithcolour by @kaswilliams

A drift over my table, playing with ideas for a new piece. A blend of floral and abstract that I’m calling for the moment ‘Earthly Delights’. Very early stages and a little fuzzy on the filming but I like that it gives it a dreamy unfinished feel. Not sure where this is going, we’ll see.

A posting for the Autumn Equinox with some close ups from ‘Seeded’, a new piece just finished. Floating layers of hand cut transparent painted and printed materials embellished with inks and anchored with pins to a laser cut acrylic frame. Acetate, paint, gesso, ink, lighting gels. Thanks as always to @davidwestwoodphotography for taking brilliant shots of tricky shiny things !

A visit to Howard Hodgkins studio in London yesterday and a really rare treat to see his work in a studio environment and hear his friends talk about his life. I love those huge wild brush strokes ! A real colour bath sanctuary from the mad city bustle outside. These few pics hopefully give some of the flavour. So worth the 4 hours (🫣) of train time and so inspiring 🙌

Very excited today because I’m heading out to a secret location in London to visit Howard Hodgkin’s studio. He’s been a long time hero of mine so today is a real treat. I saw a huge collection of his paintings at the Hayward Gallery in 1996 and I’ve never forgotten it. There was nothing else in the building and the individual pieces weren’t that big but there were a huge number of them. The gallery walls had been painted ‘mailbag grey’ and the lights were dimmed so it was like walking into a jewel box. Amazing to think that was 30 years ago, and today I get to see his studio 🙌. A good book and some good tunes packed to make the 2 hour train ride fly. 🎶Good Day, Sunshine 🎶

Meet @Kaswilliams, one of five artists selected for ‘Born To’, a feature exhibition at British Art Fair 2026, proudly sponsored by PensionBee as part of our ‘Born to Retire’ campaign.

‘Born To’ is a reminder that being an emerging artist doesn’t have to mean being fresh out of art school, it’s never too late to begin.

What new adventures have you taken on later in life?

I’m delighted to announce I’ve been selected to be included in Born To - an exhibition @britishartfair curated by @josarthistory for @pensionbee. Five artists were chosen from over 500 entries with the focus on artists aged 50 and over who came to their creative practice later in life. At 72 I can say for sure that creativity is a long game and one that always delivers surprises - like this one ! It’s an amazing opportunity that I truly didn’t expect to have and these two pieces will be shown alongside work from four other artists Mike Kelly @mikeakelly.work, Annie Luke Turner @annieluketurnerartist, Myrna Mitchell @myrnatracyceramics and Richard Wilshire @richardwilshire. Podcast chats with all five artists are scheduled on @josarthistory throughout September.

Come and find us on the top floor of Saatchi Gallery during the British Art Fair (24-27 September). On Friday night the fair will be open until 9pm for ‘Meet the artists’ - a special event open to all visitors and an opportunity to meet artists and dicuss their work in an informal way.
