KATABATIK KONCLAVE 2022-2025
The Katabatik Konclave event series is now officially over. In 2022, we initiated the event at Red Hawk Avalon, a private forest venue in rural Washington state. Its roots were based on the previous “Katabatik Campout” events, which occurred in the Stanislaus National Forest on the summer solstice weekend from 2011-2016. The Konclave began as a return to this tradition, showcasing live electronic acts in the forest under the dark night sky with high quality sound.
After four inspiring years of the Konclave, we have decided to cease this event series and focus on sporadic one-off events (including potential future campouts) and music releases. We would like to thank all the performers, volunteers + staff, attendees and especially our hosts at the lovely @redhawkavalon . We encourage you to continue to support their independent efforts as a non-commercial forest venue.

On ‘Phase 5’, her fifth long-player, Mara Barenbaum (Group Rhoda) really lets her compositional skill shine across six pieces of playful, machine-driven art-pop.
The opener, ‘Field Tone’ is two tracks for the price of one, starting as a proto-electro workout with a meaty bassline, before cleaving into a vocoded slice of celestial disco.
Barenbaum employs a similar trick on the standout ‘White Fur’, a properly chugging electroclash cut that morphs into a euphoric crescendo of jubilant synths, swinging percussion and robotic vocal harmonies. @electronicsoundmag by @katabatiksound

The most recent live session from Alaskan esoteric electronics group Nommo Ogo is now available as a limited cassette via the CC imprint. This release captures the ensemble performing at the Katabatik 25 year anniversary event, as part of Recombinant Network Editions 2025 Festival (held at the Gray Area, SF). For this recording Nommo Ogo were Identity Theft, Atlea, ⁂, Ceremonial Abyss and Squidcannon. This live set encompasses an arc of the band’s material from 2002-present, featuring a stripped down and cosmic re-imagining of some older songs as well as a new track. The live set will only be available in this analog format, and is limited to 100 copies. Available now via CC , Bandcamp, and at Rainy Day Records in Olympia.

We’re kicking off our 2026 schedule with an album by electronic artist Group Rhoda.

The album, Phase 5, is set to land on 13 February, and is the fifth full-length work by Group Rhoda, aka producer Mara Barenbaum.

Barenbaum has recorded under the Group Rhoda name for more than a decade, and her latest release sees her ‘perpetually in-between states, deftly shifting form at the blink of an eye. Lines between fairytale and fact, between nature and art, between subject and object all dissolve under contemplation.’ by @katabatiksound
